Church’s History

Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church was established as a United Methodist congregation by John Wesley, an Anglican preacher who worked for the Church of England in the 1700s.

The church claimed that the expansion of "Methodist" organizations was a result of its members' devoted attendance at religious services and their volunteerism.

Eventually, the societies reached America, where the church recognized them formally as a separate denomination in 1784.

There are 11 million United Methodists worldwide, according to Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church.

They noted that among United Methodists, social responsibility and religious conviction have always been intertwined.

The church gave more examples of its interactions with many Christian groups and efforts to foster an ecumenical tradition, such as its partnerships with the Office of Spirituality and Religious Life at Emory University.

Open to All

Consideration of the Glenn Memorial is something they value, the church claimed, whether they are newcomers to Atlanta, the church, or are looking for a new church home.

Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church is devoted to loving God and loving neighbor with all of its being—heart, mind, spirit, and strength.

The church stated that they gladly welcome everyone into the entire life and ministry of the community, regardless of color, culture, race, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or socioeconomic status, education, politics, physical or mental ability, or religious background.

All Saints' Day was celebrated at the Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church as well.

The worship services were held at 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and 5 p.m., according to the church post.

According to the church, John Rutter's "Requiem" served as the special music at 11 a.m. worship.
