Corinthian Baptist Church (CBC) hosted a pre-Thanksgiving service on Wednesday, Nov. 23.

The church’s Facebook page announced they want to celebrate an evening of thanks via online and face-to-face gatherings.

Beginning of Corinthian Baptist Church

According to Corinthian Baptist Church’s history, its story began when a small group of Believers decided to build a place to worship God in the Avondale community. In 1868, the Council of Baptist Churches authorized the church’s creation, as mentioned on the website.

In addition, they revealed that the first worship service occurred at the New Colored Orphans home on Van Buren Street. They added that Reverend R.W. Scott was chosen to be their first pastor.

Moreover, under Scott’s leadership, they named the church the First Baptist Church of Avondale. They explained that they had mail problems and the church was near the First Baptist Church of Walnut Hills.

The church changed its name from mid-1870 to 1908 to Corinthian Baptist Church.

Meanwhile, the website highlighted that the church had 13 pastors since its beginning in 1868.

In 2010, the church bought more than 30 acres of land on Reading Road in Bond Hill, as further explained on the website. The website added that they dedicated their land from Sept. 3 to 4 in 2011.

CBC noted that they had their Ground Breaking Service on July 30, 2016, and started the construction on Oct. 18, 2017.

The church emphasized that they knew God would continue to bless them as they worshiped their Lord and Savior.

Food Hospitality Ministry

In another section, CBC highlighted its Food Hospitality program. According to them, this program is for special events in the church. They assist in offering a chance for the church to have fellowship, encouragement, and enjoyment, as noted on the website.

Besides, they explained that this program develops the spirit of friendship for adult members. They set up, prepare and serve food and drinks together, as mentioned on the website. Also, they work together in cleaning up after special occasions at the church.

The programs include meals for members and their families after funeral services, Church Anniversaries, and Pastor’s Appreciation.

Outreach Ministries

The CBC’s outreach webpage mentioned that they aim to obey God’s command by reaching out to people worldwide. They explained that they want to spread God’s love and the Good News of Jesus to those who are not yet saved and are underserved.

Moreover, they noted that the church members volunteer and evangelize to others. They added that they strive to create God’s Kingdom through their programs to deal with the needs and struggles of others.

The church's website also said that CBC seeks to widen Christ’s love because Jesus first loved them. They emphasized that His love became real when they shared it with their neighbors through serving them and showing kindness.

On the website, CBC believed in the Scripture found in Mark 16:15, which says Jesus told His disciples to go to all places in the world and tell them about the gospel.
