Covenant-First Presbyterian

The church’s homepage revealed that the congregation at Covenant-First Presbyterian Church desires to worship God the Father. The church wants to declare Jesus the Son of God. They also aim to surrender to the power of the Holy Spirit, as added on their website.

The same website stated that Covenant-First Presbyterian holds services on Sunday mornings. Members use a traditional approach with choral songs and congregational hymns.  According to them, their sermons are based on the Bible, as further explained.

In addition, the church provides professional care for children. They have a program for infants and toddlers during their services.

The congregation at Covenant-First Presbyterian Church is famous for its hospitality. The website stressed that the church is committed to serving individuals in downtown Cincinnati. They also said they are proud to extend their ministry in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

The church is also dedicated to serving worldwide. They noted that it is a part of its essential mission program.

Local Ministry: Promoting Friendship

As part of the church's local program, they partner with International Friendships, Inc (IFI). According to the Local Ministries page, IFS is an organization and a community of Christian students. They advocate friendship and hospitality for international students.

The IFI website said that they are a national organization. IFI is working with local churches and universities.  They also welcome volunteers to offer life-transforming hospitality and connection to international learners.

As further posted on its website, international students face many challenges when they move to America to study. These learners suffer from culture shock and stress, the IFI added.

They added that international students might also experience loneliness.  They may feel sad about leaving their homes.

In line with this, IFI stated that they have a strategic work to make these learners feel at home and to make them feel God’s love.

The IFI offers small groups to create meaningful friendships, as mentioned on its website. They noted that their American staff and international students could discover more about life. In this small group, they could also share their interests and learn together about the Bible.

How IFI Helps International Students

The IFI “About” page said that the organization helps these students throughout their journey in America. They said their staff could pick them up at the airport when they first came to America.

The website said their volunteers could offer a temporary shelter for four days.

As further noted, IFI would assist these students in settling in America. They would also guide them with their questions about living in the USA. The IFI said they want them to feel at home in Cincinnati.

Moreover, on the same webpage, the IFI said they let international students meet US Americans. These people could offer their shelters, as added on the website. They said that their volunteer staff could help them improve their English skills.

Besides, the IFS holds special activities like taking trips to different tourist spots in America.  They do this initiative to help the students know more about their culture. They said they make this trip throughout the year.
