New Prospect Baptist Church invites its members to attend Music and a Movie Night on Aug. 19, Friday, in celebration of the church's 103rd anniversary. The church stated that the event is free.
Exalt, Evangelize, Edify
New Prospect Baptist Church seeks to glorify Jesus and reach out to those who are lost, as emphasized in the church’s about section. They noted that they wanted to evangelize other people.
The church also desires to train the Believers and improve society.
In addition, members of New Prospect Baptist Church believe that sin separates people from God, and it is the cause of the “fall of humanity.” The church thinks people need a Savior for salvation and restoration to reunite with God.
As further explained, individuals are naturally sinners and have the choice to commit wrongdoings.
Moreover, New Prospect Baptist Church firmly believes in and serves the triune God, as posted on the website. The congregation believes that there is one God in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Village Well
The same website revealed that a few courageous people that love the Lord started New Prospect Baptist Church in 1919. The church stressed that they desire to be the “Village Well.”
According to the website, the village well is one community area vital to all life. The church explained that in the Bible, Moses and Isaac met their wife at the village well. In the New Testament, the church noted that Jesus changed a woman in the town well.
Celebrating 100 Years
According to the church’s Youtube video, in the early 1900s, during the first World War, missionaries chose to relocate to the north with 500,000 other Negroes. As further revealed, during that time, there were filled with hopelessness.
Besides, the video revealed that transferring from the south to the north gave them hope for the promise of a better life. The video stated that one of the Negroes was Bentley, who believed he was to be a Deacon at a church in Alabama.
The church stressed that Bentley landed in Cincinnati because of the Grace of God. They noted that it was the beginning of their story. In the video, the church said God gave Bentley the wisdom to build a church. He started with ten believers meeting at William Smith’s home.
Serving Throughout Many Years
In the video, the church mentioned that God had done wonders in the last 100 years. Members at New Prospect Baptist Church have fed bodies and souls. The church emphasized that they are a church of service.
As explained in the video, they have given relief and volunteered in the civil rights campaign. They added that their members are traveling the world and ministering outside the walls of their physical church.
As further stated, the church has been a spiritual home and a house of comfort to its congregations.
More importantly, in the last 100 years, the church has built buildings to expand its ministries.
