From the Heart Church Ministries of Dallas, a worldwide, non-denominational ministry established by the late Dr. John A. and his wife, Diana, FHCM has been impacting the lives of its members and others around the world.

As a church, it aims to love people to strengthen families and equip men and women to serve God. Their ministries, focused on relationships within church walls and outside by reaching out to people, have been used by God to change many lives.

Promise House

True to their mission to be the Lord's hands to meet the needs of the underprivileged, FHCM has adopted Promise House as a beneficiary for its fundraising event.

Promise House, which began in 1984 in response to the survey conducted by Lovers Lane United Methodist Church to ascertain the community's needs, is now an organization that caters holistically to the needs of young people from poor or dysfunctional families.

They also have a particular ministry for those who run away from abusive parents or relationships.

Operating today as an independent organization, FHCM has expanded its intervention and recovery programs to include crisis management, transient housing, counseling, and other services for pregnant teens, scholarship, and special outreaches for the neglected, abused, and at risk children and teenagers.

To better serve the community, Promise House is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, to those in crisis and who need immediate assistance.

Because of this open-door policy, making Promise House accessible to everyone on their website, they reported having served 2,050 clients in 2020 alone.

However, the goal is not just temporary relief. As a place of refuge, the organization works to "[improve] each client's chances for long-term stability [to help] prevent chronic homelessness in North Texas."

Benefit Brunch

Based on Romans 12:13, which says, "Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality," FHCM will hold a benefit brunch for Promise House on December 4 from 12 to 3 pm at Allentown Road, Suitland.

In their statement, FHCM says, "From the Heart Church Ministries of Dallas has adopted the Promise House, which supports youth and young adults in our local community, to serve and share the love of Jesus with during this Christmas season. We will provide Christmas gifts, hygiene items, and clothing to each Promise House resident in the month of December."

A Ministry for the Poor

FHCM is now being led by Bishop John A. Cherry II, who has a special place in his heart for the poor.

Having received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies with a minor in English from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia, he was appointed Episcopal Pastor of FHCM.

Bishop Cherry desires to do God's will, especially in ministering to those in need.

Inspired by Matthew 25:35-40, where the Lord says, "For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger, and you invited me in, I needed clothes, and you clothed me, I was sick, and you looked after me, I was in prison, and you came to visit me," he has been leading his church to minister to the poor not only in Dallas but in other parts of the country and the world, as well.
