Pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church attends Not From This House by The 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge

According to an article recently published by WAFB, the community town hall assembly kicked off earlier this month with Pastor Dr. Freddy Haynes among the guests of the final summer event hosted by The 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge.

Haynes III is the pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. The Glen Oaks High School was the venue of the assembly. Michael R.D. Adams said the gathering was paramount to the organization.

The Mission of the Event

The 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge had a mission in their recent event, Not from This House. It aimed to prevent crime in the city. Michael R.D. Adams said the group needed to empower the public to fight against unlawful activities.

Michael R.D. Adams serves as the president of The 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge.

WAFB published an article following their report late in July that stated President Michael R.D. Adams announced a program to prevent crime in the city. He said the anti-violence Respect 4 Life program targets youth who are vulnerable to these crimes in the city, including gun violence.

The program offers job skills training, mental health resources, counseling, and educational learning. President Adams encouraged the public to help the organization in their mission to preclude the youth from illegal activities.

Among Cities in the Country with Highest Murder Rates

Baton Rouge is among the cities in the United States with the highest crime rates. The city reported more than 100 murders in 2020. It was the highest crime rate the country had that year. According to The Center Square, the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors, including unrestricted gun sales.

Also, there were more than 950 violent crimes in Baton Rouge that year. It doubled the number of crimes reported from cities across the country.

Town Hall Community Assembly

Hundreds of Black people joined the Not from This House by The 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge. Adults and young people stood up to support the program that was part of the mayor's eight-week initiative. These participants voiced suggestions on how they could help prevent crimes in the city.

President Michael R.D. Adams claimed the proceeding was among the successful programs in Baton Rouge.

Brace B. Godfrey, Jr. is the former founding president of The 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge. It is a chartered organization of the 100 Black Men of America. African American people are the members of the group.

The group started in 1992, and a year later, The 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge developed with the help of its members. Godfrey led the movement in the year 2013.
