Worshippers of First Presbyterian Church of Prosper plan to save parish after fire

According to an article published by Spectrum News, God called His disciples to save their historic parish, First Presbyterian Church, a cathedral in Prosper, Texas, on the north side of Dallas. Pastor John Fowler talked about the damage caused by the fire earlier this month.

Pastor John Fowler’s Statement

Pastor John Fowler of First Presbyterian Church of Prosper said the congregation looked for ways to save the belongings. The pastor stated the fire damaged these items inside the church.

Despite the damage, the congregation and church leaders continue talking about saving the parish for their worship service. However, they postponed religious activities in the facility for August. Pastor John Fowler and his associates conduct a weekly virtual meeting to discuss their plans for the historic building.

Fire Breaks Out

Local and nearby fire departments worked together to stop the fire inside the church earlier this month. CBS News reported that there were no church members when the fire occurred.

According to Spectrum News, the fire started at 1 p.m. on Aug. 2 because of out-of-condition electrical wirings. The authorities did not disclose the estimated damages of the fire.

WFAA reported that five other fire departments assisted Prosper Fire-Rescue crews. These firefighter volunteers were from Aubrey, Little Elm, Frisco, McKinney, and Celina fire departments.

Chief Blasingame said the First Presbyterian Church of Prosper managed to stand against the fire.

The First Presbyterian Church of Prosper started as Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The roots of the present-day church were spearheaded in 1902 after Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Baker donated property in Prosper, Texas. It was named First Presbyterian Church of Prosper a year (1903) after the leaders' request. Rock Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church was the first name of the parish when it moved to Prosper in 1902.

Another Recent Fire Incident in Texas Church

A church that is 78 miles away from Dallas and 45 west from Fort Worth, Texas, recently burned into ashes, NPR reported. The news stated the renovators took a break when the fire suddenly occurred. Lanita Smith talked about the fire incident that happened in their church.

Lanita Smith is the wife of the pastor of the Balsora Baptist Church. She said they felt the presence of God amid the devastation. The structure of the church collapsed, but its cross still stands after the fire.

According to fire respondents, the fire caused firefighters minor injuries. They reported the structure collapsed when a few members were inside the church. Lanita Smith and the congregation hoped for the church's renovation, and despite the unsuccessful remodeling, the congregation holds faith in God.
