Job Summary: The Athletic Director develops the overall philosophy and goals of the entire athletic program at Don Bosco Cristo Rey, and is responsible for the administration of the athletic program. The athletic director also teaches Health and P.E. classes. The Athletic Director reports to the Assistant Principal for Student Life. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: - Form, develop, and coordinate co-educational athletic programs at Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School- Support and implement the philosophy of athletics at Don Bosco Cristo Rey- Work in conjunction with HR to source, interview, and hire/remove coaches as well as monitor compliance with background checks and child safety requirements- Evaluate all personnel in the athletic department- Create and maintain Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School Coaches Handbook- Establish criteria for recognition and awards given to members of all athletic teams- In conjunction with the coaches, oversee the inventory, distribution, collection, storage, repair and purchase of all equipment and uniforms - Supervise the scheduling and use of all athletic facilities and coordinate the use of such facilities with the Facilities Manager and the VP of Operations- Supervise the scheduling of all athletic contests and reschedule when necessary- Arrange transportation schedules of all athletic teams in coordination with transportation department - Make announcements for upcoming sports events. Responsible for all in-school marketing of sports and athletic events- Work to determine the eligibility of all students participating in the Athletic Program- Obtain the required health and parental consent forms for all students participating in the athletic program- Coordinate with the school Wellness Coordinator regarding the medical background of student athletes and handling of any injuries- Hold quarterly meetings with all coaches- Ensure that all coaches hold parent meetings with their teams before each season- Develop and maintain an annual budget for Athletic Program- Prepare reports on status of the Athletic Program for the Principal, ADW and the Cristo Rey Network - Support college-bound culture of student athletes and work to support recruitment efforts.- Support school-wide events (assemblies, pep rallies, etc.) with tech/student management - Teach two sections of Health and P.E. classes- Obtain/maintain CPR and first-aid certifications- Other Duties as Assigned.Qualifications and experience- Bachelors degree - A minimum of five years of professional experience working in education and/or athletics - Demonstrates positive social and spiritual mentorship of students - Strong communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and professionally with parents, students, coworkers, athletic officials, and local government/parks agencies.- DBCR/ High school -school spirit- Administrative skills sufficient to prepare a budget, execute written communications, edit reports and documents, maintain an Outlook calendar, etc. - Sensitivity to working in a diverse multi-cultural environment - Bilingual English/Spanish a plus- Knowledge of the Catholic faith, beliefs and practices - Understanding and commitment to the educational mission of the Archdiocese of Washington, the Salesians of Don Bosco, and the vision of the Cristo Rey NetworkIf you are interested, and qualified, for this position, please send a resume and cover letter to: Kevin SomokAssistant Principal for Student Lifeksomok@dbcr.orgFor more information on the school visit www.dbcr.org
