JOB SUMMARY: The Outreach Coordinator develops and maintains strong community partnerships that support the outreach programs of the Southern Maryland Food Bank, including the after-school student Snack Sak and Senior Sak programs, Meals and Hope meal distribution, Seeds of Hope garden project, the Giving Hope Food Pantry and other initiatives. The position helps manage and direct volunteers that package, prepare and distribute food to the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent Catholic Charities at interfaith, social service, cultural, and government meetings and events to promote programs of the Southern Maryland Food Bank.
  • Facilitate coalition-building between regional pantries, senior centers, educational institutions, schools, government and community organizations.
  • Conduct presentations for corporate and public sponsors, and volunteer groups.
  • Develop, coordinate, and lead volunteer training that will support the programs provided by the Southern Maryland Food Bank.
  • Develop outreach and marketing strategies to expand recognition of the Southern Maryland Food Bank and promote program activities and offerings to private and public entities.
  • Manage and direct Pantry Coordinators to ensure that Pantries have the necessary support and resources to maintain and increase community participation. Ensure that pantries are operating within the Southern Maryland Food Bank’s standards and philosophy.
  • Provide customer service to current and prospective Southern Maryland Food Bank customers.
  • Provide regular reports on outreach strategies and results, including those related to and/or required by specific funding sources.
  • Participate in workshops and meetings for staff development.
  • Assist with accurate and timely data entry and processing of customer orders and payments in accordance with Agency policies.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field.
  • 3 years of work experience in a human services field.
  • 1 year of work experience in outreach.
  • 2 years of combined experience in communications and/or marketing.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
  • Skill in the use of email marketing, social media and website management.
  • Knowledge of mass communications and/or marketing theories and the ability to apply them.
