The Local Church recently announced having a new permanent place of worship and gatherings.

In a Facebook post, the newly planted church in Arvada said they finally found an official place where members can meet. The church said the new site was the result of the community’s prayer and discernment.

“You all prayed that God would provide a space, and He has answered abundantly,” the announcement reads.

The Local Church believed that God blessed the congregation with an existing church building in downtown Olde Town. One of the highlights of the new worship place is that it is reportedly located in a prime location and has lots of parking space.

On top of that, the new location is already set up for worship services. It only means fewer logistics and moving in and out for the church staff and leaders every Sunday.

The church said that it will conduct its worship service in the new location every Sunday evening. As explained, there is a timeline for the service since the existing congregation that owns the building still gathers there every Sunday morning.

“There are a dozen big and little ways that God made it clear this space was His answer, so thank you for praying!” the announcement continued.

Based on the photo, the church building is owned by Cornerstone Church of God. It is located at 5624 Yarrow St, Arvada.

The Local Church

According to The Alabama Baptist, the church was a newlywed couple’s response to God’s calling to build a church in the Arvada-Denver area.

The idea of planting a church came after Pastor Justin McKay and his wife Lacy went to Denver for a honeymoon.

In their interview, the pastor shared how they came up with the idea. They said that they had seen no churches near the Rocky Mountains.

McKay shared that in Alabama, where the couple is residents, “there are churches everywhere.”

In May, the couple already gathered a total of 12 people on their team. Now, they target to have at least 50 members by the end of the year.

Pastor Justin McKay

As the report stated, Pastor McKay grew up going to the Bluff Park Baptist Church. He served as a worship pastor in Alabama.

After a few years of serving an Alabama church, McKay said he heard a new calling from God. He reportedly believed that God wanted him to transition from lead pastor to someone who would build a church in a place far from home.

In August, another Alabama-based congregation pledged to support The Local Church.

In a separate report, the Bethlehem West Baptist Church from Vinemont expressed commitment to the newly planted church.

When the McKays’ opened the church in 2020, more Alabama Baptist pastors reportedly went to Denver for a vision trip. One of them was Bethlehem West Lead Pastor Pastor Shane Wheeler.

The church pledged to support The Local Church for at least 14 months. The report noted that Pastor Wheeler’s congregation also committed the same thing to two other Alabama Baptist church planters in the West.
