First United Methodist Church LaPorte invites congregation for 10-week Bible study on ‘Ten Women of the Bible’

The First United Methodist Church LaPorte in Texas is set to hold a "Ten Women of the Bible" from August to October.

'Ten Women of the Bible'

According to the Eventbrite page, the Bible study will occur from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, from Aug. 24 to Oct. 26, at the church premises.

The announcement also said that the event is based on the study guide of authors Max Lucado and Jenna Lucado Bishop. As mentioned, the 10-week series will tackle the women in the Bible whose acts are essential to Christianity and the world.

First United Methodist Church of La Porte

The First United Methodist Church of La Porte calls itself a warm and welcoming church that is a part of the United Methodist Church denomination.

The UMC page says it is diverse and has plenty of ministries for people of all ages to grow.

The church has almost 500 members, with a little over 100 people coming in every Sunday. Apart from its small groups and ministries, it also has a Sunday school to ensure that children can grow in God.

Rev. Kevin Thomas Gilmore leads the church.

United Methodist Church

The United Methodist Church(UMC) is a denomination that believes in the Holy Trinity and the Bible.

The denomination follows the Great commission given by Jesus to the church, asking it to make disciples throughout the world. 

The church follows its purpose by providing local churches and extension ministries.

Also, the church believes in the two commandments of Jesus, telling the church to love God with all its heart and being and love its neighbors as it loves itself.

The denomination's page also says that as Methodists, the church follows the teachings of John Wesley, Phillip Otterbein, and Jacob Albright.

Today, over 12 million people belong to the denomination from across the globe--- from different cultures, languages, and generations.

The UMC is a denomination that started in April 1968, with the merger of The Methodist Church and The Evangelical United Brethren Church.

According to the denomination, its roots are in the Methodist Movement of John and Charles Wesley that started in England and made its way to America in the late 1760s.

The UMC is led by governing bodies such as the General Conference, the Council of Bishops, and the Judicial Council.

Max Lucado, Jenna Lucado Bishop

As per his website, Max Lucado is a renowned pastor, speaker, and author who serves the Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas. He has been called "America's Pastor" and "The Best Preacher in America by Christianity Today and Reader's Digest, respectively.

As a writer, he has sold over 145 million books worldwide. He has written everything from books, Bible studies, commentaries, songs, greeting cards, and more.

He also receives the 2021 ECPA Pinnacle Award for his literary work.

Jenna Lucado Bishop is a known advocate for leading young girls to God through her speaking engagements. 

She is also known for her books, "Redefining Beautiful: What God Sees When He Sees You" and "From Blah to Awe - Shaking Up Boring Faith," to name a few.
