On Friday, Nov. 5, a horrifying incident at the Astroworld Festival occurred. Exactly eight people died, and about 300 attendees reportedly left the concert injured.

Due to the incident, Houston's Annunciation Catholic Church did a tribute service for all the event's victims.

Astroworld Fest Incident 2021

On Sunday, Nov. 7, the local Catholic church gathered the mourning loved ones of all the deceased victims from the concert.

As reported via ABC 13, the church played music and hosted a prayer vigil. It was led by devoted Catholic parishioner Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale.

In the vigil, Mattress Mack shared that he believed Lord works in ways people don't understand. Thus, he pointed out that one thing Houstonians can do now is gather as a community and pray.

According to Billboard, Rev. Paul Felix led the prayer vigil service. He said that the concert event taught people "things can so quickly turn to disaster." He then pointed out that it was also a wake-up call of the vulnerabilities of the human body.

One of the victims who attended the event, Charles Gamez, said that he went to church twice after the incident. He said that he wanted to go there to have "more peace."

He added that the event was "definitely traumatizing."

Angel Rodriguez, 18, one of the attendees, also shared in the report that it felt hell when she was there at the concert. She said that they did not know the event was going to be a mass tragedy.

Meanwhile, Julia Hasbrouck—a classmate of one of the deceased victims—said that she did not know how to feel about the incident. She noted how hard it is for their schoolmates to forget the 'hype man' of their dance team.

"I don't really know how I feel," she told ABC13. "Moments will be hard. [Monday] will be hard when I'm back with the team."

Travis Scott, Drake to Face Charges

In a different report from The Guardian, Astroworld concert performers Travis Scott and Drake are now facing legal complaints.

One of the plaintiffs, 23-year-old Kristian Paredes, said that he was "severely injured" after the concert. He was one of the reported victims of the stampede that resulted in the death of other concertgoers.

He accused the Live Nation Entertainment security guards of ignoring the people who were seeking help. He also called out Travis for allegedly inciting the mayhem.

At the same time, Paredes involved the name of rapper Drake for the crowd mayhem.

In a report from Click2Houston, the 23-year-old victim reportedly seeks over $1 million for the injuries he obtained from the event.

As reported, Texas attorney Thomas J. Henry currently represents Paredes.

He said in the interview that many concertgoers waited for the event. But, instead of having a safe concert venue, Henry pointed out the night of the event as fearsome for the victims.

Another plaintiff filed was from Patrick Stennis of Harris County. As per his filed lawsuit, Stennis was "trampled, crushed and lost consciousness during the incident."

Similar to Paredes, Stennis also accused concert organizers of not properly planning the event.
