In the announcement, it says that the church is providing 25 different styles of mattresses that people can buy to support the beneficiaries of the event.

In a post by Houston Show Choir, it says that it had twin size, full size, queen size, and king size mattresses. The mattresses are brand-new with full factory warranties and are available for delivery. There are also adjustable bases, luxury pillows, and mattress protectors.

On the Facebook page of the church, it says that the church is on a mission to “transform hearts, lives, and history.” It says that it follows what it calls “God’s inclusive love” for people and that it is a witness to the holy integration of spirituality and sexuality.

The church follows inclusion, community, spiritual transformation, and justice. As such, the church is a welcoming church that strives to welcome anyone.

It also affirms its anti-racist, LGBTQIA+-affirming advocacies and says that when it comes to the Bible, the church is interested in right relationships rather than beliefs.

Leadership and History of the Resurrection MCC

Rev. Elder Troy Treash serves as the Senior Pastor of the church. On the church page, it says that the pastor is committed to bringing healing and wholeness to the community. He is the person responsible for guiding the church to God’s inclusive love.

Apart from Rev. Treash, the church also has Rev. Denise Junious as its interim associate pastor and Rev. Vichi Sheil-Hopper as pastoral Care Coordination.

The church started in the early 1970s with a meeting at the Preston Villa. By 1975, the church was officially chartered as the Metropolitan Community Church of the Resurrection.

Rev. Robert Falls became the first pastor of the church. Over the years, the church has had plenty of different pastors serving the Resurrection MCC.

One of the notable reverends was Rev. Dwayne Johnson who served the church from 1996 to 2009. Through the leadership of the pastor, the church grew to a congregation of 500 members. It was also through him that the church moved to its current 9-acre campus.

The church would then become an important part of the community, serving any community organization coming in through its doors.

Houston Horizon Chorus

According to the Facebook page of the Houston Horizon Chorus, it is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International. It is a non-profit organization that promotes acappella singing through education and performance.

Sweet Adelines International is a musical organization for women with over 33,000 members worldwide.

On its page, it says that it is an award-winning chorus that has been serving Houston since 1981.
