Brenda Marsh-Mitchell Gospel Stage to hold the 17th annual Taste of Soul Family Festival on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m. Lester Barrier, the assistant pastor at Hawthorne's Atherton Baptist Church, will host this year's Brenda Marsh-Mitchell Gospel Stage, which will celebrate the Year of the Choir.

Gospel Stage's 17th Annual Taste of Soul

The performances will pay tribute to legendary gospel singers from the past, such as James Cleveland, Andrae Crouch, Walter Hawkins, and Keith Pringle. He established the Pentecostal Community Choir, according to the Los Angeles Sentinel

The intersection of Crenshaw Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will serve as the site of the stage.

When Lester was asked how he felt about hosting the Gospel Stage this year, he said he was really excited to host. He also noted that he has been going to the festival for a long time and has always wished that he could participate in the festivities in a more formal capacity.

Barrier is the only comedian who is also a preacher and has a comedy special that can be purchased on Amazon right now. A comedian who is also a pastor has created an entertaining and thought-provoking stand-up series called "Super Saint."

Meanwhile, the Rev. Dr. Michael J. T. Fisher, senior pastor of Greater Zion Church Family, the oldest African American-founded church in Compton, spoke at this year's Taste of Soul celebration, saying that the event has special meaning for the congregation because they have all survived the past two years through the grace of God.

Also in attendance will be Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer of Faithful Central Bible Church, who stressed the significance of the choir's appearance, per the report.

According to Ulmer, the African American community in greater Los Angeles has a rich history and a bright future because of Taste of Soul.

Bishop Ulmer elaborated that it is a pleasure and a privilege for their ministry, Faithful Central Bible Church, the Family of Champions, to collaborate with local merchants, artists, business owners, and prominent citizens in passing on a legacy of hope and encouragement to future generations.
