The newly appointed director of Safety Services and two assistant directors have been welcomed to the campus of California Baptist University. Its mission is to pioneer safety measures that guarantee the campus is a safe and inviting place for all.

Ensuring Safety of CBU, With Help of Safety Services

According to CBU News, John Freese, who currently serves as the director of Safety Services and has been with the UC Riverside Police Department for more than 25 years, began his position in February.

Meanwhile, Chris Thomas, who is now serving as the assistant director of Safety Services and has more than 25 years of expertise in the industry, began his position in July.

Also, Christian Dinco, now the assistant director of Safety Services, has been serving and protecting the local community for the past 30 years. Dinco started his new job in August.

According to Freese, when he arrived at CBU, he immediately set about altering the concept of the Safety Services department. Freese added that they have shifted to more of a proactive and collaborative engagement with their campus partners, with the primary intention of assisting students in achieving their academic goals.

Freese's recruitment of a leadership team included Dinco, someone he had collaborated with over the years, in order to accomplish that goal. The officers of Safety Services will have the opportunity to meet the students where they are and assist them in navigating challenging circumstances.

According to Freese, anyone can be present at any moment of the day in order to provide a secure environment for their students and find solutions to any difficulties that may arise.

On the contrary, alterations to the team's uniforms are also in the works. The one they have now is quite comparable to the RPD uniform, as per the report. The new one will give the officers the appearance of being less like actual police officers by having them wear polo shirts and pants styled like cargo.
