Pepperdine University and Normandie Christian School have collaborated on various projects. On Sept. 10, NCS, Pepperdine, several organizations, and more than 50 other volunteers came together to celebrate Step Forward Day.

Celebrating Step Forward Day with NCS, Pepperdine

Step Forward Day has been an annual event held at Pepperdine University for over three decades. Its purpose is to encourage and connect members of the Pepperdine community who are dedicated to volunteerism and community service.

According to the Los Angeles Sentinel, the day was packed with various activities for the whole family, including food, music, games, and prizes, all intending to support the students, staff, and teachers of NCS as they begin their new academic year.

Because of this partnership, the Pepperdine family could provide books and other educational materials to the school to improve both the academic experience and the student's learning.

Herbert Jones, the principal of NCS, reported that all of the school's instructional and supplemental resources had become obsolete.

During the pandemic, he added that they utilized digital educational resources that were beneficial for usage in a setting that allowed for remote study.

Jones further stated that as they emerge from the pandemic, NCS is in need of supplementary materials that will improve the overall educational experience for their students.

In addition to Barbara Lockert, a former NCS board member and Pepperdine Class of 1970 alumna, Bernice Pitts, honorary director of NCS, was present at the Step Forward Day community gathering.

As per the report, directors Diana Darty, Natasha Foreman, Angela Jones, and vice president Jeanine Morrison were present, and parliamentarian Angela Jones was also present.

The senior minister of Normandie Church of Christ, Dr. Stanley Talbert, also celebrated.
