Holding its 30th Annual Giving Tree

Mike Rios-Keating, the social justice education manager at Catholic Charities,  was featured at the "Practicing Catholic" show with Patrick Conley.

Rios-Keating said during the interview that when it came time for Christmas, they were welcomed to be a method for individuals in the community to give to others and a way for the mall to reach out to the community.

According to The Catholic Spirit, individuals interested in taking part in the Giving Tree can go to the Macy's Court in the shopping center, where they can pick up an ornament for the tree and then use that ornament to make donations to people who Catholic Charities assist.

Rios-Keating also said that gifts might consist of domestic things such as a frying pan that can assist a person in stocking a kitchen after moving from a shelter into their own apartment. Gifts may also be in the form of cash.

Rios-Keating added that there would also be opportunities to participate in quick service projects. One of these projects will involve putting together cold-weather parcels in a "sock and roll format."

According to him, the gathering will also provide various activities for youngsters to participate in for families visiting.
