Faribault church holds annual bake sale

Details of the Event 

The church is preparing Scandinavian treats for the event. On Nov. 15 at 9 a.m. They produced Krumkake and Rosettes. On Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, approximately 30 volunteers prepared lefse at the church.

The First English Lutheran Church invited everyone to their Annual Advent Bake Sale on Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring lefse, traditional Scandinavian baked goods, and other homemade treats via a Facebook post.

This year's annual sale is a Christmas Gift Shoppe with gifts, and everyone is invited to stop for a coffee and treats.

The Church’s Events

In celebration of the Advent Season, the church holds Sunday of Advent worship from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Nov. 27 . Everyone was invited to the Family Advent Festival in the Dining Room between services at 10 a.m. To prepare for Christmas, there are crafts, treats, and special projects available. 

On Nov. 23, the church holds Thanksgiving Eve Service and Pumpkin Pie  Social. The worship started at 6 p.m. and was followed by dessert in the dining room. 

The church also announced on its Facebook page that it is holding a fundraiser to benefit the community. The church will support the Community Cafe; tickets are $30 and include hors d'oeuvres, "The Looney Lutherans" Comedy show, dessert, and a cash bar and raffle.

Churches Annual Bake Sale

Members of the New Knoxville United Methodist Church are busy planning their annual Christmas Bake Sale Extravaganza, which will take place on Dec. 3 in conjunction with the village's Hometown Christmas Celebration.

On Saturday, homemade noodles were made, candy was made on Tuesday evening, and members had their favorite recipes ready to bake. The auction begins at 10 a.m. in the church. A soup and sandwich lunch will be served for dine-in or take-out; the sale will end at 1 p.m.

On Dec. 16, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Detroit will host its annual bake sale. The church will sell hot spanakopita ($5) and tiropita ($5) pockets, as well as pastitsio ($8) slices.

The church website is open for preorders, and those interested in purchasing are encouraged to come early to the church because once products are sold out, that is all they will be able to offer for the rest of the year.

Many churches across the country hold annual bake sale events. The Bridge Church in  Silver Spring, Maryland, will hold its Annual Bake Sale on Dec. 8, 2019. The event will start from 11:45 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. and will be at Takoma Park Middle School, 7611 Piney Branch Road. 

The event is the year's largest fundraiser for the youth ministry. The proceeds will fund significant initiatives for the coming year, such as scholarships for a teen conference in February and our annual summer lock-in.
