About St. Lawrence Catholic Church

When she and her husband relocated to their lake house on Maple Lake, close to Mentor, Williams attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church parish as a part of her Christian life.

When St. Anthony's Church in Terrebonne opened a mission church in Mentor, St. Lawrence Parish was created. As the Catholic community expanded, a new church was established and consecrated to St. Lawrence by Bishop Francis J. Schenk in 1954.

The entry into church life and spiritual development continues with Confirmation. The candidates received their Baptism into the faith, were confirmed, and then participated in the Eucharistic liturgy. They received Holy Communion for the first time at the service on Holy Saturday.

Until the three sacraments are received, initiation into the Church is incomplete. Confirmation is another word for strengthening. In the sacrament of Baptism, they receive the Spirit of Jesus. In Confirmation, what happened at Baptism is strengthened, deepened, and made even more complete.
