A designer bag bingo night was held at Presentation B.V.M. Parish in Cheltenham. Father William Harrison organized it to benefit the Sisters of St. Joseph of Mombasa in Kenya. Around 130 players took part in the Aug. 5 event.

Spreading Gospel In Kenya

The five Sisters of St. Joseph of Mombasa were present at the event. The purpose of the designer bingo night is to share Gospel in Africa. A sister from Our Lady of Miracles Church in Brooklyn said it was their first time playing bingo, a new experience for them.

The $275 to over $500 collected funds will be used to evangelize the people of God in Kenya. Father Harrison. According to the Catholic Philly report, the amount is six times when converted to Kenya money.

Sister Francesca also shared that they aim to become an IT community but cannot make it due to a lack of funds. So, with the help of donations, the previous amount donated to them makes it possible to purchase electronic devices such as laptops and projectors.

Church Bingo Games

Most churches use their basements to hold bingo events for fundraising purposes. Churches let the people know about the event by posting the details on the church bulletin after mass, posting flyers in the community, and some other churches advertise the event through local newspapers and are given a discounted price.

Though many tend to link Bingo with Catholicism, the game's roots are far more interfaith and ecumenical. For example, bingo is an opportunity game in which players match 24 numbers printed on small cards in a 55 matrix card with random numbers ranging from one to 75.

Bingo and Fundraising

St. Mary Catholic Church in Kenosha held a summer festival on their church ground, one of their most significant fundraising events. They included bingo in their games to collect funds.

St. Stephen Catholic Church Community for Women also held a fundraising night on July 21. The bingo night includes a 50/50 drawing and five bing games.

St. Stanislaus Catholic Church celebrated its annual Summer Picnic event. The event included showcasing local fresh foods, auctions, and bingo games. The event serves around 3.000 attendees yearly, according to Justin Korsmeyer, the co-chairman of the event.

Aside from church, different organizations and companies also organize Bingo games to raise funds.

Every year, the Dayton Real Estate Crush team provides numerous philanthropic possibilities for its real estate agents. Elizabeth Cooper, a team founder, says they love helping and making the community united.

The real estate company and Yellow Cab Tavern will Crush for a Cause: Bingo Nite on Aug. 16. The proceeds from the event will be donated to Artemis Center.

Artemis Center helps and guides victims of domestic violence to make the right decision for their safety and their children.
