The First United Methodist Church of Phoenix in Arizona invited the public to join the “Let Heaven and Nature Swing!”

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Nov. 23, the church said the event will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

According to the church, it will be the start of the holiday season with a swingin’ 18-piece Big Band.

The church said they will celebrate the spirit of the season while they perform some of their favorite holiday selections.

First United Methodist Church of Phoenix said the admission is free but the seating will be limited, adding that they will make sure they will give themselves plenty of time to find a seat.

First United Methodist Church of Phoenix’s History

According to the church's website, throughout the following more than 70 years, First United Methodist Church of Phoenix continued to outgrow its buildings.

As a result, in the 1950s, it constructed the current sanctuary, a superb illustration of traditional and highly symbolic mid-century church architecture.

According to the church's website, the 125th anniversary of First United Methodist Church of Phoenix was commemorated in 2006 and 2007.

It was added after spending many years in various parts of the city, the windows from the previous downtown church were transported back to First Church in 2008 and 2009.

The church expressed its appreciation for keeping this historical component in the current venue of worship.

A group of missionaries from California was dispatched to the peaceful hamlet of Phoenix with the goal of founding a Methodist Episcopal Church, according to the First United Methodist Church of Phoenix.

According to the church, the neighborhood's brush arbor was utilized to host the first religious services and events for the neighborhood's residents in 1881.

It was noted that their first building was a one-room adobe meeting house, 20 by 40 feet in size.

Worship, Music

The church claimed that the primary method for strengthening worship and transforming our hearts is music.

Additionally, it offers a space for anybody who enjoys traditional or contemporary praise music, regardless of age or musical background.

The 11 a.m. service will be led by the 40-member traditional adult choir of the church.

According to the church's website, in addition to singing traditional hymns every Sunday, they also perform big symphonic compositions during concerts and other noteworthy events.

The youth activities include a variety of times, including Youth Choir at 4:30, Youth Dinner at 5:30, and a Junior or Senior High Program at 6. Alternatively, as per the church, when the preacher runs out of things to say.
