Children's Choir

First Presbyterian Church is looking forward to the possibility of reestablishing its youth music ministry as fall approaches, which is sure to be a beautiful time of year.

This time, students in Kindergarten through Fourth Grade will be able to participate in the choir. They will get together in Westminster Room 213B on Sunday mornings from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

According to the church announcement, children's choirs have a long tradition of being an exciting and culturally enriching component of the children's lives at First Pres.

They offer a one-of-a-kind setting in which children can connect with one another and with their faith through the medium of music.

The church will continue to follow the rules set forth by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control and the local health department, and they will adapt their procedures according to the circumstances that exist at the present time.

At the moment, this would mean mandating that all children and teachers wear masks whenever they sing inside a building.

In the context of worship, music enables members of First Pres to experience the divine in ways that go beyond the limitations of language.

They get a greater appreciation for the artistic beauty and diverse cultures that exist in the world that God so dearly loves thanks in large part to the influence of music.

The congregation ofFirst Presbyterian Church is supported in their participation in worship by the music ministry, which also offers significant opportunities for connection and service to the community.

According to its website, First Presbyterian Church has a long history of hosting choirs for people of all ages.

Their children's, youth, and adult choirs all contribute to the musical leadership of the Sunday worship service, in addition to performing in annual concerts and other special events.

Their worship teams lead us into a profound experience and expression of worship on Sundays and at special worship events held throughout the year.

The worship teams are reflective of the diversity of gifts that exist within their community.

About First Presbyterian Church

First Presbyterian Church was established on March 31, 1878, which was one day before the incorporation of the city of Berkeley.

The church was established by twenty-seven people in order to minister to the local universities as well as the greater community.

The congregation of First Presbyterian Church outgrew their first three homes before moving to their current location in 1902, which is on the corner of Dana Street and Channing Way.

According to the church, the foresight that led to this decision was not wasted, as evidenced by the fact that both their membership and their ministries would continue to expand in the years to come.

Since the beginning of the church, the ministries geared toward young adults and college students have been a primary focus.

First Presbyterian Church members have been living out their mission to be a shining example of hope for close to an entire century and a half.

Every day, they keep their ears open in order to better grasp the next step that God is calling them to take in their lives.
