GLIDE Foundation in San Francisco will hold Legacy Gala again on Friday, Aug. 19, at Terra Gallery. The event aims to honor the foundation's legacy of serving others with unconditional love and radical inclusion.

GLIDE Legacy Returns to In-Person

As GLIDE will celebrate its legacy, the foundation is pleased to extend an invitation to everyone to celebrate the legacy of unconditional love and radical inclusivity that GLIDE has left behind with them in person.

According to the post, Aimee Allison and Dr. Connie Wun will receive the Legacy Award from GLIDE, which will be presented by Karen Hanrahan, President and Chief Executive Officer of the organization.

The event will also include a live reading by the brilliant poet Ramona Webb, the return of the famed GLIDE Ensemble, which Vernon Bush will lead, the irresistible sounds of DJ King Most, who is one of San Francisco's most elite DJs, and more.

In addition to that, as the post stated, the attendees will have the opportunity to partake in GLIDE's World Famous Fried Chicken, which will include a vegan alternative and additional refreshments and specialty beverages.

All the information stated above is available on the organization's website, where they can register online to get tickets.

About GLIDE Foundation

GLIDE is a nationally recognized center for social justice that is committed to transforming lives, offering pathways out of poverty and catastrophe, and fighting against systemic injustices.

They enable people to achieve stability and thrive by providing integrated, comprehensive services, advocacy initiatives, and an inclusive community. Their focus is on children, families, and individuals.

The goal of the GLIDE organization is to build a radically inclusive, just, and loving community. They believe that with these aspects, this community will be mobilized to reduce suffering and break patterns of poverty and marginalization.

GLIDE's Story

According to the organization's website, a young African American preacher by the name of Cecil Williams joined fellow progressive ministers at GLIDE in 1963 with the intention of breathing new life into a congregation that was on its deathbed.

They believe that GLIDE is a safe haven and a support system for the Tenderloin's diverse community of hippies, prostitutes, youth who identify as transgender, people who are addicted to drugs on a chronic basis, and other people who are economically disadvantaged and socially marginalized.

It has also become a place of spiritual development as well as political and cultural evolution.

GLIDE Memorial Church

GLIDE Memorial Church is a spiritual community with its roots in freedom and was based on a faith tradition that is extremely welcoming to people of all backgrounds.

As the website stated, individuals and communities are given the ability to express their thoughts and put Glide Memorial Church's message of love into good action in the world through the use of Congregational Life Groups.

In addition, the church is known for its world-class choir, which performs a variety of musical styles, including rock, jazz, and blues.

Members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies work together under the banner to advance the causes of equality and fairness.
