The primary mission of the LCEF is to provide financial resources, support and related services for ministry, witness and outreach of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. In so doing it shall raise funds primarily through the issuance of corporate notes and other debit instruments. Its assets shall be used exclusively for the following: provide financing and services for the acquisition of sites; the construction of facilities; the purchase of buildings and equipment; operating expenses; rostered church worker education; the residential housing needs of rostered church workers; and other purposes approved by its governing board consistent with the ministry and mission of the Synod under policies approved by the Board of Directors of the Synod.

Reporting Relationships

Mortgage Loan Closer reports to the AVP Mortgage & Consumer Lending, Rostered Church Workers Loans.

Summary

The Mortgage Loan Closer provides departmental and end-to-end closing support to the RCW team. This role must adhere to and execute responsibilities in accordance with all state and federal regulatory compliance, as well as LCEF loan policy and guidelines.


Essential Job Functions

  • Provide administrative support including – process and route incoming mail; organize, image, and verify loan files; initiate and prepare check requests and payments; enter and verify loan information in loan origination systems.
  • Prepare loan closing packages within regulatory and compliance guidelines and coordinate the details of the loan closing.
  • Review and balance closing disclosures and advise for corrections as needed.
  • Prepare and disclose initial and corresponding Closing Disclosures.
  • Review Lock Confirmation and Underwriter Approval to ensure loan is closed in accordance to underwriting, state and federal guidelines.
  • Act as correspondent between title company and loan officer.
  • Review Title Policy, Tax Certs, Hazard Insurance and Surveys for accuracy.
  • Request Wire for Funding.
  • Oversee the transfer of the loan file to Loan Servicing. Ensuring all documents are properly recorded, packages are complete, and information is accurate prior to sending to the loan servicer.
  • Interact and correspond with third-party vendors.
  • Track loans for receipt of required documents and timely closing.
  • Prepare purchased loans for underwriting and appropriate approvals.
  • Process loan payoffs
  • Post-Close RCW originated loans
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum two years of recent mortgage loan closing experience.
  • Encompass experience, preferred.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with both internal and external customers. Provide excellent customer service by exceeding customer’s expectations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a high sense of urgency. Ability to communicate effectively with various audiences including clergy and lay people.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Ability to learn proprietary and non-proprietary software applications.
  • Learns new skills/information/processes easily and applies new knowledge quickly. Eager to learn all aspects/functions of the RCW loan department, regardless of the current responsibilities.
  • Fosters a collaborative spirit, has a positive attitude and is team player. Participates fully on assigned and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to analyze data and make knowledgeable decisions related to mortgage loan closing.
  • Must be self-motivated, pro-active, and dependable.
  • Practices high level of confidentiality.
