Kirkwood UMC to hold discussion on reconciliation

Kirkwood United Methodist Church (UMC) invited everyone to participate in a discussion on the work of reconciliation within their community. The discussion will be held on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. in Kirkwood UMC's Commons. 

Reunite, Reconnect 

Kirkwood United Methodist Church, through its Racial Justice Ministries, organized a discussion on the work of rebuilding connections in the community. The church provided details through its website

As stated on the website, the church will host an in-person discussion focusing on the work of reconciliation in the community. There will be a panel of three local speakers.

They will give a brief perspective on reconciliation work in the community. Small round table discussions will follow. The speakers will motivate participants to reflect on ways they can live out the work of reconciliation in their communities. 

The church invited participants to stay to enjoy Fall desserts with all after the discussion.  

KUMC's Racial Justice Ministries

Kirkwood UMC's Racial Justice Ministries' purpose is to educate and eliminate racism in its immediate community. The group holds regular meetings to discuss current issues, plan events, and lead programs that promote unity and equality for all.

The speakers for Reconciliation with Community include Rev. Brandon R. Wilkes. He is pastor of Peoples Church of St. Louis and serves as Executive Director of St. Louis Reconciliation Network.  

Rev. Gabrielle NS Kenned, MBA, MDIV is also among the speakers of the discussion. He is the pastor of Buren Chapel AME Church and the Interim Executive Director of Faith Heals. 

Aside from them, Megan Daniels is one of the guest speakers. Daniels works as the Director of Community Outreach at Kirkwood United Methodist Church.

Contemporary worship service happens in the Commons at 9 a.m. Traditional worship service is at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary.

Kirkwood United Methodist Church holds separate kids' worship for kids 3-8 years old and childcare for infants and toddlers during worship hours. 

Rev. Katie Trinter serves as lead pastor of Kirkwood United Methodist Church whereas Dr. Kyle Butler is the Executive Director and oversees Lifebridge at Kirkwood UMC. 

Consequently, Dolan Bayless is the Traditional Music and Worship Director.

Jeremy Melton is the Director of Contemporary Worship and Youth Ministries.
