O’Fallon First United Methodist Church to raise fund for local organization, 5K marathon

O'Fallon First United Methodist Church (UMC) will once again host the Running 4 God Charity 5K on Aug. 13, Saturday. The marathon will begin at 8 a.m. and will end at 9 a.m.

The church invites all to join the 5k marathon. All proceeds of the activity will go to Karla Smith Behavioral Health.

Runs for Charity 

O'Fallon First UMC Missions Committee was thrilled to announce the comeback of its Running 4 God Charity 5K. The church welcomes participants from all ages and levels to this friendly walking and running competition. 

Karla Smith Behavioral Health will benefit from all proceeds of the marathon. The church also encourages those who are not a runner to get involved as volunteers. 

As stated in the announcement, such an event requires volunteers to succeed. Volunteers will keep participants safe and have fun during the run.

O'Fallon First United Methodist Church encourages interested to contact people from its team. 

It also provides an email address for sending questions or concerns.

O'Fallon First UMC shared these details about Running 4 God Charity 5k through the church's website

According to the IT'S YOUR RACE webpage, online registration for the event is already closed. Those interested in joining the Running 4 God Charity 5K may register on the day of the event. 

Race Day Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and until 8 a.m. The race venue is the O'Fallon First United Methodist Church. 

Ages 10 to 60 and above can join the race. Awards will be given to the first male and female overall, and first and second in each group, with no duplications. 

Age groups are as follows: 10-14,15-19,20-29,30-39,40-49,50-59, and 60+. Kids age nine and below will engage in a fun run at 8:30 a.m.

Participants who registered before Jul. 25, Monday, will get a t-shirt and a participation medal for joining the marathon.

O'Fallon First United Methodist Church required a fee of $25 before Jul. 25, Monday and the last day of registration. Then, it became $30.

Karla Smith Behavioral Health

As shared on its website, the facility's address is the rehabilitated historic building in downtown O'Fallon, O'Fallon Town Hall. The Karla Smith Behavioral Health serves clients ages 13 and older experiencing various mental and behavioral struggles.

Some clients experience depression, panic disorders, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Attention Deficit Disorder. 

The Karla Smith Behavioral Health is also a place for people suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Behavior, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, relationship struggles, and gender identification and sexuality concerns. 

The facility also extends its hands to individuals with underlying mental/behavioral health issues related to substance use disorders and failure to launch.

O'Fallon First United Methodist Church 

Its Facebook page shares that O'Fallon First UMC has served its community for more than 150 years. It has been working to help imperfect people connect to a perfect God. 

O’Fallon First UMC is located at 504 E US Highway 50, O'Fallon. Its website says service times happen on Sunday mornings at 9 and 11. 

The church identifies itself as a venue where individuals can meet Christ, participate in a life-giving community, and feel welcomed.
