About
The word 'Catholic' means 'universal' and St. Michael is a Roman Catholic Church and the heritage of its' parish family is certainly universal. The Mass is celebrated in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. The first Catholic Mass was celebrated in 1910 at a wedding and by 1912 traveling priests celebrated the Mass in various homes including that of General Longstreet and his wife. In 1933 a new church was built and still stands near the hospital. St. Michael became a parish in 1942. The parish outgrew that location and the new current church was built in 1974.
