Peachtree Road United Methodist Church (www.prumc.org) is a large, active, and growing traditional church in the Buckhead community of Atlanta. The church is seeking a full-time Associate Director of Children and Family Ministries to join our team of staff and volunteers committed to building a foundation of faith for children birth through 5th grade and their families.


Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties

The Associate Director position supports all areas of program ministry to children and families, birth through 5th grade.The position's emphasis will be on nursery through 2nd grade children working with staff, families, and volunteers to disciple the nursery, preschool, and early elementary participants and their families.

  • Oversee the visioning and programming of all ministries serving children in nursery, preschool, and early elementary areas.
  • Recruit, equip, encourage, and manage volunteers for ministry to young children.
  • Recruit, hire, manage, and train paid nursery staff
  • Maintain Safe Sanctuary standards in all programming
  • Work together with the children's ministry team (staff and volunteers) to organize service projects, special Sundays, and seasonal events for children and their families that build Christian community and reach out to families who are not yet a part of Peachtree Road UMC. These events include, but are not limited to, VBS, Advent Workshop, and the Easter Egg Hunt.
  • Attend/assist children's ministry staff meetings, monthly all staff meetings, and other ministry events that require an 'all hands-on deck' team approach.
  • Enhance professional and spiritual growth through continuing education opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Children and Family Ministries


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of relevant work experience in Christian education, especially with children.
  • Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, websites, video presentations and social media.

Position Structure and Level

This position reports to the Director of Children and Family Ministries. This is an exempt, full-time position with a salary and full benefits.
