Summary:

The Associate Director of Children’s Ministries at Marietta FUMC should be someone in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and the heart to live out the church’s Mission: To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This person must genuinely enjoy working with children and families and be energetic and dynamic. In addition, the Associate Director must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as they will regularly interact with children and their families, as well as support the Director of Children’s Ministries in creating an environment that guides children into a relationship with Christ.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with children and children’s programming required; 3-5 years of experience is preferred
  • Able to work Sunday mornings, scheduled Sunday and Wednesday evenings, and various times during the week to support the programs of the church, including some holidays (exact schedule to be determined with the Director)
  • Experience in planning large- and small-scale events
  • Proficient in digital media
  • Ability to learn and become proficient with Marietta FUMC software

Job Responsibilities:

  • Meet weekly with the Director of Children to plan and collaborate on faith-formation and worship opportunities for children and their families, working to coordinate Children’s programming with the overall Vision and Mission of Marietta FUMC
  • Work alongside the Director of Children to lead and teach programming for children, including preparing materials, communicating with teachers and volunteers, and setting up spaces as needed
  • Create welcoming spaces for children, including decorating Sunday School rooms and worship spaces, updating themed spaces, and curating and displaying resources for parents in the Parent Nook space
  • Plan and attend special events, under the supervision of the Director of Children, including but not limited to Fall Festival, Christmas in the Park, Easter in the Park, Valentine’s Dance, VBX, and other seasonal and special events
  • Maintain an attitude of extravagant hospitality to all members and visitors and maintain a professional demeanor (including attire) with colleagues and other staff
  • Engage with families, building relationships and providing tools they need for spiritual leadership and growth for their families
  • Assist in the creation of digital media and manage the Children’s Ministry social media page, including scheduling posts, promoting special events, creating graphics, and regularly replying and responding to commenters
  • Build relationships with Sunday School classes, small groups, and other connectional groups within the body of the church to engage them with Children’s Ministry and advocate for the hopes, concerns, and needs of children in the church
  • Continually assist in identifying, recruiting and empowering volunteers to assist with ongoing and special events throughout the year
  • Attend and be actively involved and prepared for all Logistics, Program and All Staff meetings and attend all bi-monthly Children’s Ministry Team meetings, as scheduled

Additional Training Requirements (provided by the church upon hire and throughout employment):

  • Safe Sanctuary Training
  • Child/Infant CPR Certification
  • Basic First Aid Training
  • MFUMC Fire and Emergency Procedures

Job Type: Part-time
