Summary of Job Responsibilities: The Cafeteria Manager is integral to the day-to-day operations within
the Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit campus. Job functions include hands-on food production, meal service, food
acceptability, customer service; sanitation and safety; procurement; recordkeeping; program regulations and
accountability, staff management, cafeteria equipment use and care, and professional excellence. Current knowledge
of nutrition and the relationship to K-12 schools/private schools are preferred but not required.

Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School requires all employees to be fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine.

Responsibilities:
1. Food Production

  • Monitor the kitchen area and the safety and sanitation of all areas in the school cafeteria.
  • Assist in cleaning school cafeteria tables and setting up minimal school cafeteria items.
  • Use standard and specialized food service equipment.
  • Cooperate with administrators, faculty, students, parents, and school cafeteria staff.
  • Ensure all areas of the Nutrition Pyramid Guidelines are present and available for all students.
  • Ensure only quality fruits and vegetables are present and available for all students.
  • Ensure all freezers, milk coolers, and warmers are at the appropriate temperature.
  • Keep a record of daily temperatures. Report any temperature above 10˚F (freezer) or 41˚F

(refrigerator/cooler) or below 140 ˚F (warmer) to the Director of Operations.
2. Meal Service
 

  • Ensure Daily Meal Briefing with school cafeteria staff before breakfast and lunch.
  • Instructs and supervises volunteer helpers if utilized.
  • Ensures proper amounts of food are taken from warmers and prepared each day
  • Ensures that Offer Versus Serve (OVS) is correctly implemented for both breakfast and lunch and that

all subordinate staff understand what constitutes a reimbursable meal under OVS

  • Ensures the serving lines are set up correctly and on time, and appropriate serving sizes are followed.
  • Help monitor students in the school cafeteria during breakfast and lunch.
  • Assist the Director of Operations with planning and organizing the school food service program by

accordance with state and federal requirements and district guidelines. Complete all necessary
reporting as required.

3. Administrative

  • Principles of portion control and record keeping.
  • Implement oral and written instructions for staff, faculty, and students.
  • Prepare accurate records and legible written daily reports.
  • Ability to take up to 6 hours of GADOE training on a computer.

  • Ability to use POS and computer to pull a daily report.
  • Report any mechanical or equipment issues to the Director of Operations.

Qualifications:
Successful applicants will embody the mission commitment, intellectual curiosity, openness to growth, optimism,

or exceed the following requirements:

  • High school graduate
  • A minimum of (1) year in the cafeteria and kitchen management
  • Experience in a medium volume facility such as a private school, catering, healthcare, and restaurant.
  • ServSafe certification required. Certification is provided in the first year of employment.
  • Ability to lift to 30-35 pounds.
  • Ability to work well as a leader and with a team.
  • Ability to communicate in English; Spanish speaking ability is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to stand, bend, move occasionally, stretch arms, etc. (e.g., move food from the oven, small stock items

such as milk containers).

  • Ability to work with cleaning products such as but not limited to – multipurpose cleaners, disinfectants

cleaner, and stainless-steel cleaner.

  • Able to pass a background check.
