Job Responsibilities:
- Works with Minister of Youth and Young Adults and Director of Discipleship and Multiplication in developing and selecting curriculum for children and youth classes.
- Works with various adult ministry leaders to create a culture of mentoring, discipleship, and shepherding that helps deepen the faith of children and youth.
- Serves in administrative capacity for the entire children and youth ministry in coordinating activities such as annual calendar, weekly announcements, mailings and website updates.
- Assist in planning and managing the budget for the entire children and youth ministries.
- Makes timely requests for purchases of required supplies and equipment as needed for the children and youth ministry.
- Maintains current and accurate records of contact information for all children and parents.
- Works closely with the Minister of Youth and Young Adults and volunteer-parents in carrying out various youth and children ministries, programs and activities, such as youth – choir members, ushers, praise dance group, step team, girl scouts, etc.
- Provides effective and efficient vehicles to communicate children’s ministry activities.
- Provides and assist in counseling or obtain counseling for children and families in crisis situations.
- Performs home/hospital visits and/or communication (calls) to children and their families in crisis or sick and shut-in situations.
- Oversee and provide leadership to adult volunteers for the children’s programs.
- Ensure that all children’s ministry volunteers and paid staff understand and adhere to the Zion child abuse policy.
- Works closely with the Children’s ministry team by providing on-going communication, coordinating meetings, events and activities.
- Works Minister of Youth and Young Adults to organize the annual children and youth day worship service and other children’s events.
- Maintain confidentiality of all church related sensitive data.
- Attend designated workshops, seminars, and conferences to keep abreast of resources, materials, curriculum and methods for children’s ministry.
- Keep Minister of Youth and Young Adults, Senior Pastor, church staff and church leadership abreast of all children’s ministry related activities and events.
- Attend appropriate meetings as required and directed by Minister of Youth and Young Adults and Pastor.
- Participate as a member of the Zion Child Abuse policy committee and work with committee to maintain training and other records of volunteers working with the children’s ministry.
- Coordinate and update records with committee in conducting training and background check screening of all volunteers.
Qualification and Education
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Children/Youth ministry or coordination of children and youth programs, preferably in a church setting.
- Bachelor’s Degree in an area such as Theology, Divinity, Education, Social Work or other related area.
Other Requirements
- Requires passing criminal and motor vehicle background check.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 lbs.
Work Schedule: This is a full-time salaried position. Flexible hours required.
