POSITION SUMMARY

The College Ministry and Singles Pastor (CMSP) is responsible for the planning, organizing, administration, and evaluation of a comprehensive ministry to college-aged young adults (18-24) and to single adults (unmarried, divorced, widowed, separated, etc.). The CMSP is also responsible for providing teaching, encouragement, fellowship and spiritual growth opportunities in these respective ministries, equipping and mobilizing participants to use their spiritual gifts in ministry.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Recruitment and development of the lay leadership within the ministry who will effectively reach and disciple college-aged young adults and single adults.

2. Oversee Sunday morning activities in the respective departments, including selection of ministry curriculum.

  1. Lead and teach students corporately and in small group settings.
  2. This includes a willingness to develop and experiment with small group and off-site models of ministry
  3. Ministry development, management, and administration functions.
  4. Plan and implement programs, retreats, evangelistic outreach, seminars, socials, and other events for each ministry (6-12 per year for college; 4-8 per year for Singles).
  5. Prepare and oversee ministry annual budget.

7. Develop relationships with students, administrators, and faculty on the Tilly Mill GSU perimeter campus and other area schools through spending time on campus each week.

8. Cultivating and maintaining relationships with parachurch ministry organizations that work with college students (such as the BCM).

9. Participate in church wide programming initiatives, particularly those benefiting adult discipleship.

10. To perform other duties as workload necessitates.

 

Qualifications

  1. Candidate must have a growing & mature, demonstrated personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Seminary degree required; M.Div. preferred.
  3. Theological orthodoxy and unwavering commitment to biblical authority.
  4. High level of interpersonal and relationship skills essential.
  5. Above average ability to be flexible, organize, manage time and set/shift priorities while meeting deadlines.
  6. Superior verbal and written communication skills (grammar, writing and editing) as well as presentation skills required.
  7. Ability to develop, plan, and implement ministry and Church related short and long-range goals, as well as to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  8. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel); willingness to learn all the programs utilized by the ministry.
  9. A current church member of FBA or enrolled in First Class and willing to become a member of FBA within the first three months of employment.

10. Must align with the beliefs, values, and mission of First Baptist Atlanta.

a. This includes a commitment to abstinence from alcohol, tobacco, and recreational drug use
