SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Communication Coordinator will support the ministry goals of Zion Hill Baptist Church through efficient communication and promotional efforts that support the ministries of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He/she will be responsible for congregational and community relations support.
The Communication Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of Zion Hill Baptist Church’s communication strategies and works toward enhancing the church’s public image. The position develops materials and interacts with members and external clients to deliver Zion Hill's messages to the public and the media using traditional and social media platforms. The coordinator contributes to the development of publications and websites, facilitates marketing campaigns, schedules meetings, create timelines, and helps plan virtual and in-person events.
Specific job functions for the Communication Coordinator include:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Web
- Lead all efforts related to the creation and development of Zion Hill Baptist Church website
- Proactively work to ensure ZHBC maintains an effective presence on the web including style/presence, search engines, new technology
Promotions
- Develop system to organize, prioritize, and communicate promotional items related to ZHBC
- Create communication strategies to market, inform, and promote teaching series, big events, and other campaigns assigned
- Oversee all written materials related to promotions
Social Media
- Manage ongoing social media messaging and communication strategies, in coordination with
Administration Minister
- Creatively build followings on various social media outlets including but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
Design & Brand Management
- Manage design efforts of all art and promotional materials related to church-wide activities with a high standard of creativity, excellence and effectiveness
- Network with independent contractors and volunteer artists to develop graphic designs
- Monitor the look, vibe and feel of all promotional materials representing ZHBC
- Monitor the use of logos and images that represent Zion Hill Baptist Church
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of effective communication and marketing strategies
- Knowledge of organization identity, mission, and goals
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Clear and effective communication

- Capable of creating and maintaining a network of vendors for promotional events
- Knowledge of website design and HTML code
- Familiar with publishing programs like Adobe and InDesign
- Exhibits proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

- Capable of thinking creatively, innovatively and analytically
- Efficient time management
- Able to conduct independent research of target market
- Works well with a variety of different individuals

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, English, or Journalism is required. Coordinators must also have approximately 2-3 years of experience working in the marketing and communication sector. Non-profit experience is a plus.

- Ability to work at a fast pace, within a variety of settings and circumstances, with composure * Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Superb command of English composition
Hours of Work
This is a part-time position. Hours vary depending on work-load. Available and on-call, as needed, in special situations. Until further notice, Zion Hill Baptist Church is operating virtually, resulting in modified work hours for essential staff during the pandemic.
