Job Summary

As part of the ministry staff and under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Connections works collaboratively to lead and multiply leaders, systems and processes, connecting first time guests and existing members more deeply into the life of First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.

Essential Tasks

Advance Connections ministries and teams, developing effective systems to identify and follow up with both in-person and online guests.

Cultivate an effective pathway that integrates newcomers into the life of the church, including OnRamp (new members) classes and follow up processes to assure ongoing connection.

Guide individuals to ministry areas that align their giftedness, passion and area so serve.

Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer in the creation of budgets and processes related to the Connections ministry

Equip and empower various welcome teams (greeters, ushers, other teams to be developed.)

Develop and implement strategies to increase overall community life of our church family.

Implement an effective “cohort group” strategy, connecting existing groups into the Connections ministry structure, and building new cohort/interest groups as opportunities arise. Resource these groups with physical resources as needed, equipping and empowering group leaders.

Bolster the online presence of First Presbyterian Church, creatively connecting online guests and church family through social medial platforms and developing other engagement opportunities.

Manage hospitality for Sunday mornings and large group gatherings, assuring that catering is arranged for Sunday morning coffee and larger events (i.e. Session dinners, churchwide picnics.)

Maintain a high level of visibility on Sunday mornings to interact with members and first time guests in a way that generates positivity and growth.

Attend weekly staff meetings and other team meetings as assigned.

Individually meet with the Chief Operating Officer every other week.

Characteristics and Qualifications

The Director of Connections should be a passionate and faithful follower of Jesus Christ who is willing to share the Gospel in both word and deed, to think theologically, to minister relationally, and to live missionally. The Director of Connections should practice hospitality and embrace plurality. The Director of Connections, should be highly relational, able to develop systems and structures that support and empower people and further the work of the church. The Director of Connections should have or develop a high degree of proficiency with Planning Center and online communications platforms.

Physical Qualifications

Possess sufficient mobility and stamina to fulfill the responsibilities outlined above.

Terms of Employment

Salary, benefits, and other terms of employment will be administered in accordance with the policies contained in the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta Personnel Manual, a copy of which is provided to each employee.
