Under the direction of the Minister to Children and Families, the Director of Elementary Ministry will partner with families to engage, equip and encourage children and families on their faith journeys.

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision, direction and oversight for a dynamic and comprehensive Elementary Ministry
  • Build relationships with children, parents and volunteers through Sunday morning activities, Faith Milestones, personal communication, service opportunities, camps, special events and other ministry settings
  • Plan and implement an engaging elementary learning environment on Sunday mornings that incorporates both large and small groups
  • Edit curriculum, coordinate supplies, resource leaders and staff
  • Recruit, inspire, equip and appreciate volunteers and leaders for all elementary programming
  • Hire, develop, resource and evaluate staff for Elementary Ministry including the Large Group Coordinator, Small Group Coordinator, Hosts, Tech/AV and staff
  • Collaborate as a motivated creative ministry partner with the Children’s staff and leadership team to plan and execute ministry events
  • Support and partner with parents in the spiritual formation and missional identity of their children and families
  • Intentionally receive Tool Time students into Elementary Ministry
  • Intentionally transition elementary students to Student Ministry
  • Oversee Camp SOS
  • Oversee the SAIL program
  • Oversee Acolyte program
  • Oversee VBS Worship
  • In collaboration with the Communications team, create weekly Children’s bulletins
  • Faith Milestones – 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades
  • Steward the resources entrusted to Children and Family Ministry
  • Participate regularly in worship services and the life of the church
  • Pursue personal, spiritual and professional growth

Qualifications

  • Passionate, contagious faith in Jesus Christ
  • Experience in large church ministries & proven track-record in children & family ministry.
  • Energetic leadership skills & coaching ability to develop volunteer & staff teams
  • Superior oral and written communication skills and excellent people skills
  • Event planning and organizational skills
  • Self-starter with excellent time management
  • Bachelors or higher degree in Elementary Education, Child Development or related field

Hours and Compensation

Full-time – 40 hours per week, including Sundays
