Full Time
Atlanta First United Methodist Church seeks a Director of Worship and Music. The Director of Worship and Music will lead worship ministries; and collaborate with grow, serve and engage ministries.
The ideal candidate is a spiritually mature, people-loving leader whose primary role is to plan and execute strong worship experiences and arts-based opportunities for the community. The candidate must be able to create diverse, unique, thoughtful, and engaging worship experiences and opportunities that inspire and transform lives, alongside the pastor and worship team.
Candidates must have strong choral and vocal teaching and leadership skills; excellent keyboard (piano and organ) leadership in worship and rehearsal; exemplary project and time management skills; the ability to multi-task and prioritize daily workload; high level verbal and written communications skills; discretion and confidentiality; college-level degree; graduate degrees in Worship Studies, Choral Conducting or Music Education preferred. Experience on a United Methodist church staff is considered an advantage. An active desire to seek continuing education in music and worship is required.
The Director of Worship and Music must love God and all of God’s people. They must value diversity and creativity in worship and music. The ideal candidate works well in a team-based leadership and planning model and has experience recruiting and leading musicians. They must be committed to a holistic approach to music and arts ministry that integrates throughout the life of the church and community.
