Position Summary

Oversee and support the God’s Masterpiece Special Needs Ministry at First Baptist Atlanta in providing for the safety and quality of teaching for the children, and the coordination of program activities and events.

Essential Functions

  • Assess ministry needs and collaborate with the Family Ministry Pastor to design a vision for the ministry area.
  • Serve as a liaison between the church and parents of individuals with special needs. Provide resources and training to help them disciple their individual with special needs.
  • Implement a strategy to reach new families in the community who care for individuals with special needs.
  • Organize and maintain God’s Masterpiece records to ensure the safety and security of the children.
  • Assess, evaluate and determine placement decisions for current and future participants in special needs programming.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and training for current and new leaders, teachers, and volunteers.
  • Plan and oversee occasional on-site events such as movie nights, fellowships, game nights, and special events such as birthday parties and Christmas parties.
  • Assist in Family Ministry and FBA projects and initiatives.
  • Supply administrative support to other areas within Family Ministries as needed.
  • Set a positive example by living as an authentic witness for Christ and through full involvement in the ministry of the church.
  • Perform other duties as needed to ensure excellence, organization, and professionalism in the ministry.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must have a growing, mature, and demonstrated personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Candidate must be a current member of FBA, or enrolled in First Class and willing to become a member of FBA within the first three months of employment
  • Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or a relevant field.
  • Candidate needs to have 3-5 years previous experience in Special Needs or a related field.
  • Candidate must possess a high level of interpersonal and relational skills.
  • Candidate must have a ministry-minded focus with the ability to cultivate a team spirit within the special needs ministry.
  • Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills (grammar, writing, and editing)
  • Candidate needs proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word).
  • Candidate agrees to abide by First Baptist Atlanta and Family Ministries Social Media Policy.
  • Candidate must align with the beliefs, values, and mission of First Baptist Atlanta including a commitment to remain alcohol-free while in the employ of FBA.
