Job Summary
Under the direction of the Senior Pastor and as a member of the leadership team, the Chief Administrative Officer oversees and manages the financial, administrative, and human resource functions of the church.
Essential Tasks
Administration
Oversee and manage the financial life of the church and support the Trustees and Session in budget creation, oversight, and endowment management.
In conjunction with the Senior Pastor, support the annual campaign and capital campaigns.
Supervise and direct the work of the Director of Accounting and support the work of their team.
Oversee/execute all contracts, insurance policies, bank accounts, and other formal agreements in which the church enters.
Secure legal counsel for the church when necessary.
Supervise the Director of the First Presbyterian Preschool.
Human Resources
In conjunction with the Senior Pastor and the Personnel Resource Team, develop and implement human resources policies and procedures.
In conjunction with the Senior Pastor and the Personnel Resource Team, identify staffing needs and create job descriptions.
In conjunction with the Senior Pastor and the Personnel Resource Team, review and create benefits packages, compensation levels, and bonus and incentive programs.
Participate in hiring staff and negotiating employment agreements.
Ensure compliance with FPC Atlanta’s Personnel Manual and civil laws and regulations.
Manage staff wellness and performance reviews.
Motivate and support current staff.
Ensure personnel records are maintained and up to date with the Executive Assistant and Human
Resource Manager.
Design and direct staff training programs to support employee development.
Develop protocols and procedures to field employee grievances and disputes.
Design and implement onboarding procedures for new staff.
Oversee and manage the personnel budget.
Characteristics and Qualifications
The Senior Director of Finance, Administration, and Human Resources will possess a high work ethic, excellent communication skills, skills for financial management, budget creation and budget oversight, knowledge of labor regulations and HR practices, strategic thinking abilities, strong organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. At least a B.A. in a pertinent field. CPA is preferable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong financial software/database skills are required.
Physical Qualifications
Possess sufficient mobility and stamina to fulfill the responsibilities outlined above.
Terms of Employment
Salary, benefits, and other terms of employment will be administered in accordance with the policies contained in the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta Personnel Manual, a copy of which is provided to each employee.
