Position Description

A successful Groups Director will be someone passionate about contributing to a church that unchurched people love to engage with, demonstrates a proven track record of highly effective recruitment and development of volunteer leaders, understands and affirms the principles of the North Point Community Church model & culture, enjoys planning for the future through goal setting and evaluation and can compellingly cast vision for Groups culture leveraging effective written and verbal communication. 

 

Responsibilities Include

  • Leader Support & Development
    • Meet one on one with leaders 2-3 times a year
    • Equip and develop each leader in their role as group leader
    • Guide leaders as they identify and begin to develop apprentice leaders
    • Work with leaders to monitor the health, effectiveness, and duration of groups
    • Be available to minister to and serve each leader
    • Coach leaders through the group life cycle
  • Leader Enlistment
    • Provide development opportunities for potential leaders
    • Interview all new leaders in preparation for each Group Launch, Short-term Groups, Growth Groups, Starting Point, and Leadership Development Groups
    • Work closely (when needed) with formative groups to assist them in identifying a leader
  • Adult Engagement
    • Help create relevant environments for adults to grow and engage in the life and mission of the church
    • Along with the Adult Ministry team lead and support adult engagement events, experiences, and short-term groups such as Growth Groups and Starting Point
  • Group Administration
    • Ensure timely follow up after each leader meeting
    • Verify that all group information is current and accurate
    • Track group progress through the entire group life and work towards a successful multiplication of groups
  • Other responsibilities
    • Participate in leading and serving at leader development events
    • Assist the Adult Ministry team in developing training and resources for leaders
    • Provide pastoral support for the Peachtree City Campus
    • All other duties as assigned

 

A Typical Day

Much of the role of a Groups Director consists of networking and equipping activities. Regular one-on-one meetings with volunteer leaders are a core aspect of the role of a Groups Director. Day-to-day work includes networking with potential volunteer leaders, meeting with new volunteer leaders to offer training, and encouraging and equipping existing leaders as they take the next steps with their groups. A normal day might also include researching best practices, developing training materials, evaluating small group curriculum, planning for the upcoming assimilation events, data management, and meeting with other staff members to collaborate on mutually achievable and interdependent ministry goals.
