First United Methodist Church of Marietta, GA, is seeking a Director of Music Ministry. This position is responsible for all aspects of Music Ministry, including staff management, to bring the community of faith into a deeper relationship with Christ through the gift of music and to provide a place for members and friends to engage in music and grow and strengthen their connections to the glory of God.
This individual will be directly responsible for all of the following:
Chancel Choir - material selections, weekly rehearsals, Sunday worship, recruiting of new members, member outreach, and extended performances.
Children's Music & Youth Choir - supervisory oversight of other staff members (specifically Associate Director and Music Associate) to enlist volunteers and select music and curriculum.
Handbell Choirs - material selections, weekly rehearsals, Sunday worship, and recruiting of new members.
Orchestra - oversees ensemble performances by members and hired musicians, recruiting new members, and developing an expanded program toward a standing orchestra.
Music School - supervise instructors, oversee administration, and grow the faculty to increase the Music School.
Performing Arts - collaborate with other music staff toward a new and engaging program that matches member talents with performance.
New Organ - support the Board of Trustees in the final stages of the installation and tuning of the new organ and subsequently find ways to leverage its use in the community and the church, to engage and grow spiritually.
Administration – collaborate in drafting weekly order of worship, manage the Music Ministry budget, including staffing, participate in funeral preparations, oversee approved fundraisers, concerts, workshops & retreats to support Music programs, coordinate all AV and digital productions with clergy, maintain all musical equipment on the church property (including pianos, keyboards, bells, chimes, choral library music, robes & cassocks, etc.), schedule weekly acolytes, work with Altar Guild to prepare chancel for each service and work with Music Ministry committee for special events.
Additional Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's Degree (required) in music (preferred)
Experience: Christian faith-based music - 7 years preferred
Proficiency in piano and organ
Salary: $80,000 or commensurate with experience
