Summary:

The Nursery Supervisor at Marietta FUMC is someone in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and with the heart to live out the church’s Mission: To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This person must genuinely enjoy working with children and families and be energetic and nurturing. In addition, the Supervisor must possess superior verbal and written communication skills, as they will regularly interact with children and their families and continually work with the Director of Children to ensure cohesive programming throughout children’s ministries.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with young children required; 3-5 years of experience is preferred
  • Able to work Sunday mornings as well as Wednesday evenings (when adult classes are in session). Additionally, the Supervisor will be responsible for working or scheduling childcare on evenings and holidays as required by activities and worship services on the church calendar
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Physically able to walk, sit, squat, crouch, crawl, hear, speak, get up and down from the floor, change diapers, and lift up to 30 pounds
  • Physically able to hold babies for feeding and comforting and lift babies and toddlers into highchairs, cribs, and changing tables
  • Able to manage recordkeeping systems for children in our care
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug screening

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe, secure, nurturing, clean, and efficient care of children in our Nursery
  • Meet regularly with Director of Children and Nursery staff to collaborate on planning, implementing, and maintaining appropriate curriculum, resources, and spaces for children
  • Oversee implementation of Sunday morning structure, including age-appropriate activities and faith-based curriculum as defined by Director of Children
  • Work to coordinate Nursery programming with the overall Vision and Mission of Marietta FUMC
  • Coordinate appropriate staffing of childcare, including developing a roster of workers and volunteers, adjusting room assignments based on number and ages of children, and communicating with other ministry areas about childcare needs in advance
  • Maintain an attitude of extravagant hospitality to all members and visitors and maintain a professional demeanor (including attire) with colleagues and other staff
  • Maintain organized, clean, and safe Nursery rooms and supply areas, regularly auditing resources, equipment, and supplies and communicating needs to Director of Children
  • Manage check-in and out, including maintaining accurate records, communicating with parents/guardians about special instructions or medical conditions, and following safety protocols
  • Continually identify, recruit, and empower volunteers to assist in Nursery by building relationships with Sunday School classes, small groups, youth, and other connectional groups with the body of the church to engage them with children and advocate for the hopes, concerns, and needs of the children of the church
  • Adhere to all applicable standards as set by The United Methodist Church and the State of Georgia, including maintaining staff ratios, writing policies and procedures, and following Mandated Reporter guidelines
  • Exemplify best practices and serve as a role model to other staff and volunteers, including upholding the highest standards of nurturing care and safety for children
  • Establish protocol for training and retaining Nursery staff and volunteers, including working with Director of Children, to ensure that all are following best practices and adequately prepared to care for children’s physical, emotional, and social needs
  • Continue to personally seek out education and training on best practices for childcare and safety standards as outlined by The United Methodist Church and the State of Georgia and then applying and implementing appropriate updates and training to other staff as needed
  • Attend and be actively involved and prepared for Program specific staff meetings and monthly All Staff meetings and events

Additional Training Requirements (provided by the church upon hire and throughout employment):

  • Safe Sanctuary Training
  • Child/Infant CPR Certification
  • Basic First Aid Training
  • MFUMC Fire and Emergency Procedures

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $15.50 per hour
