Job Summary

The Senior Program Associate will work collaboratively with the Senior Manager of Recruitment and Selection to coordinate and facilitate the recruitment and selection of applicants for all mission service programs – long term missionaries, Global Mission Fellows, and Mission Volunteers. The incumbent 1) provides leadership in recruitment strategy and activities; 2) takes lead in parts of the selection and interview process in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Recruitment and Selection; 3) contributes in the on-boarding process for missionaries; 4) researches, develops and manages recruitment resources; 5) supports the training team with coordination and logistics; and 6) assists with the mission volunteer training workflow as needed. As a member of Missionary Service team, strives to support the work of the whole unit adhering to the Guiding Principles for Missionary Service and Theology of Mission.

Essential Job Functions

Collaborate and coordinate with Sr. Manager and others on Recruitment and Selection Team to develop and execute high-level, successful annual Missionary and Mission Volunteer recruitment process. Includes full range of activities during the recruitment cycle such as timely screening of candidates, scheduling interviews with qualified applicants, tracking and reporting on volume of applicant pool.
Takes lead to work collaboratively with Sr. Manager of Recruitment and Selection and other managers to develop and manage recruitment and promotional resources for all categories.
Takes lead in selection and interview process, in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Recruitment and Selection, working with applicants from diverse cultural background
Assist in the on-boarding process of missionaries and mission volunteers in consultation with MS team.
Support training logistics (i.e. scheduling, coordination and communication for assigned projects) for virtual and in-person trainings for missionaries and mission volunteers, in collaboration with other MS managers. Communicate and provide support to missionary candidates.
Develop and manage discernment resources that reflect Mission Theology and Guiding Principles for Missionary Service and are culturally appropriate and relevant
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree or other acceptable credentialing in Human Resources, Social Sciences, Marketing or related fields
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience supporting a full-cycle recruitment process. Experience coordinating virtual events is preferred.
At least two (2) years of experience managing people.
Two (2) years of experience in the areas of project management is preferred.
Experience with or good understanding of United Methodist connections and networks is preferred.

Competencies, Job Requirements and Other Specialized Knowledge

Manages selection process of Global Mission Fellows, Global Missionaries, and Mission Volunteers applications. Collaborate with MS team to assess and create the best and most effective recruitment tools and resources for all categories of service.
Reviews and recommends applicants for all categories of missionaries and mission volunteers. Resource additional readers of applications to ensure a thorough review of applicant’s materials.
Collaborate with the MS Team to plan and support high-quality, meaningful training experiences.
Collaborate with MS team to ensure seamless on-boarding process of missionaries and mission volunteers
Comfortable working in a faith-based setting.
Familiarity with the United Methodist Church and its’ partnerships.
Highly competent using technology, such as Microsoft Office suite, Zoom (advanced functions), application tracking systems (or similar program), and basic design programs.
Strong presentation skills and ability to effectively communicate in cross cultural settings to audience of different languages.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars, workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
Ability to create resources and train others in the technology used during the process
Strong skills in negotiation, coordination, project management, communication, and reporting.

The candidate must also be able to use a broad range of communication styles while choosing the appropriate and most effective way to communicate with diverse audiences.

Work Hours and Conditions

FLSA Status: F/T Exempt
Location: Remote
Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm (Monday – Friday with flexible start/end time) - Evening and weekend work/meetings as necessary, particularly during peak unit season.
May require work outside of standard business hours (to include weekends), particularly during peak unit season.
Sedentary office/computer/keyboarding/meeting work for extended periods of time.
Travel as required.
