Job Summary

The Senior Program Associate will work collaboratively with the Executive Director and managers of Missionary Service to coordinate and facilitate the recruitment and selection of applicants for all mission service programs – long term missionaries, Global Mission Fellows, and Mission Volunteers. The incumbent 1) assists with the on-boarding process for missionaries and mission volunteers; 2) coordinates training workflow and logistics and 3) collaborates with candidates, trainers and facilitators to ensure Missionary training is managed and executed in a timely and high-quality manner. As a member of Missionary Service team, strives to support the work of the whole unit adhering to the Guiding Principles for Missionary Service and Theology of Mission.

Essential Job Functions

Collaborate and coordinate with manager and others on Recruitment and Selection Team to develop and execute high-level, successful annual Missionary and Mission Volunteer recruitment process. Includes full range of activities during the recruitment cycle such as timely screening of candidates, scheduling interviews with qualified applicants, tracking and reporting on volume of applicant pool.
Work with Sr. Manager of Selection and Recruitment and other managers on promotional materials for all categories.
Assist in the on-boarding process of missionaries and mission volunteers in consultation with MS team.
Manage training logistics (i.e. scheduling, coordination and communication for assigned projects) for all virtual and in-person trainings for new missionaries and mission volunteers, in collaboration with Executive Director and multiple managers.Communicate and provide support to missionary candidates.
Develop and maintain training plans/resources (such as videos, how to guides, and templates) as required to assist with the implementation of new technologies and processes used during training (virtual, online or in-person).Includes, providing training on new technology to other staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Major Accountabilities

Manages selection process of Global Mission Fellows, Global Missionaries, and Mission Volunteers applications.Collaborate with MS team to assess and create the best and most effective recruitment tools and resources for all categories of service.
Reviews and recommends applicants for all categories of missionaries and mission volunteers. Resource additional readers of applications to ensure a thorough review of applicant’s materials.
Collaborate with the Executive Director, internal trainers, and external facilitators to plan and manage high-quality, meaningful Missionary training experience.
Collaborate with MS team to ensure seamless on-boarding process of missionaries and mission volunteers
Engage with MS unit team managers, trainers, and facilitators to maximize training resources and application of the latest technology to improve the learning/distance learning experience.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or BA in Human Resource Management or Business Administration

Experience

Three (3) to five (5) years of experience supporting a full-cycle recruitment process. Experience coordinating training is preferred.
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in the areas of project management
One (1) to two (2) years’ experience working in Instructional Technology a plus
Track record of creating engaging and interactive learning resources
At least two (2) years of experience managing people.

Job Requirements

Comfortable working in a faith-based setting.
Familiarity with the United Methodist Church and its’ partnerships.
Strong presentation skills and ability to effectively communicate in cross cultural settings to audience of different languages.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars, workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
Ability to create resources and train others in best use of Instructional Technology
Strong skills in negotiation, coordination, project management, communication, and reporting.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

May require work outside of standard business hours (to include weekends), particularly during peak unit season. -25%
Sedentary office/computer/keyboarding/meeting work for extended periods of time. Ability to alternate between sitting/standing. - 55%
Travel as required. - up to 20%
