The Assistant Director for Service Immersion and Social Justice will work in close collaboration with the Director of Service Immersion and Social Justice in developing a unifying vision of social justice based in Catholic Social Teaching, growing service immersion programming, and supporting community service initiatives. The Assistant Director will collaborate broadly with partners on and off campus to make a positive impact where Providence College students, faculty and staff serve, paying special attention to Providence College’s Catholic and Dominican mission.
Essential Duties:
A. Advance and oversee all strategic priorities of Service Immersion and Social Justice
Assist the Director of Service Immersion and Social Justice in accomplishing set goals, objectives, and strategic design for Service Immersion and Social Justice.
Maintain current, short-term global immersion programs (Jamaica and Guatemala) and investigate potential for future expansion including domestic trips.
Promote and support post-graduate service opportunities for students.
Evaluate and attend to all partnerships to ensure a valuable experience for both students and community partners.

B. Provide mentorship, pastoral care, and supervision to students
Provide pastoral care and oversee student leaders on the Campus Ministry leadership team.
Oversee the campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity, with careful attention to Collegiate Challenge leader and participant formation.
Support student leaders of weekly community service sites.
Serve as a resource to student leaders and organizations across campus as it pertains to community service and engagement.

C. Promote Catholic Social Teaching and Social Justice across campus
Coordinate and collaborate with partners across campus regarding local and global service, Catholic Social Teaching, and social justice through a Dominican and Catholic lens.
Provide opportunities for reflection and continued engagement with social justice issues, especially pertinent to the Providence College community.
Encourage faith formation through appropriate and meaningful programmatic activities.
Marginal Duties:
Perform all other duties as may be required.
Education and Experience Required
A minimum requirement of bachelors with 3 years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of three years’ experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (service year experience strongly welcomed).
Experience with organizing community service opportunities and/or service immersion trips.
Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing who is comfortable with, and knowledgeable about the faith.
Must possess good teamwork and communications skills.
Must have a familiarity with the needs and interests of College students and a willingness to accommodate student schedules.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other computer skills required.
Physical Demands

Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard
Communication skills using the spoken word
