St. Veronica’s Parish in Burlington, Massachusetts, a recently formed, active, and growing parish consisting of 2 churches with more than 2600 families, is seeking a dynamic individual to become our Parish Confirmation Coordinator. The focus of this position is both catechesis and evangelization, bringing students to a more profound knowledge of the Lord and the Church. This new part-time position will serve a strong and vibrant program for youth in grades 9 and 10 who are preparing for their Confirmation at Saint Veronica’s Parish.
The Faith Formation Program at St. Veronica’s continues to address and adapt to the
challenges of providing quality catechetical instruction and experiences to both students and parents in our parish. The foundation of our Faith Formation Program is our belief and love for Jesus Christ and His Church and His command to evangelize. While centered on students and families, our Faith Formation Program should engage all areas of our parish ministries.


RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative
Under the guidance of the parish clergy and working in conjunction with the other Religious Education staff, administrative duties will include but not be limited to:

Assure that all registration, sacramental, financial, and database records are current
Maintain accurate descriptions associated with sacramental preparation and celebrations
Maintain a liaison with the Diocesan Office of Lifelong Faith Formation and Evangelization; Youth Ministry Office; Family Life Office; and Child Advocacy Office
Attend Regional Religious Education meetings and training at the Archdiocese Pastoral Center and other locations as required

Program Development and Implementation

Work collaboratively with the Coordinators of Faith Formation for grades 1& 2 and grades 3-6
Meet regularly with the parish clergy in order to plan, evaluate, provide constructive feedback and set goals and expectations for grades 9 & 10
Design the program calendars, identifying class times, guest speakers, and retreats
Be present for all Faith Formation classes, programs and retreats for grades 9&10
Be available to parents through weekly office hours to respond to concerns or issues in a timely manner as required
Recruit, train and mentor Faith Formation volunteers
Work with the parish Finance and Operations Manager in establishing a Confirmation Program budget
Develop and oversee the yearly overnight Confirmation Retreat
Organize and encourage youth to participate in a range of parish activities including social activities, service projects and especially the celebration of the Sunday Eucharist
Plan and direct parent meetings and sponsor events
Implement and administer the Mass Card Attendance program for Confirmation students
Continue personal and spiritual formation as well as professional growth through reading, conferences and certificate programs as budget allows

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a practicing Roman Catholic with strong faith in union with Catholic beliefs and moral-life teachings who actively participates in the Sacramental life of the Church
Familiarity with the pastoral plan of the Archdiocese (Disciples in Mission) preferred.
2 years of experience as a volunteer or paid employee in a parish.
Open to providing students vocational discernment under the guidance of the parish clergy.
Demonstrated pastoral skills and the ability to collaborate and foster community.
Sincere interest in helping youth and young adults to develop their relationship with The Lord and the Church.
A healthy understanding of and appreciation for today’s youth, with knowledge of current trends and culture.
Maintain a strong personal witness to the Christian life, supported by prayer and active participation in the Sacraments
Expected to be available nights, weekends, overnights, and other times based on the event schedule.
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media.

PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS

Ability to use a computer keyboard for up to 8 hours per day
Ability to sit for up to 8 hours per day and to navigate the parish grounds
Ability to lift to 20 pounds
Flexibility in work hours

The salary for this part-time (approx. 20 hours/week) position is commensurate with experience.
