Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Cohasset and Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish in Hull (Christ by the Sea Catholic Collaborative)
SUMMARY: The Christ by the Sea Catholic Collaborative parishes of Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Cohasset, MA and Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish in Hull, MA are seeking a fulltime Coordinator of Evangelization and Ministry for Youth and Their Families, who will, under the direction of the Director of Evangelization of Children and Youth and Their Families, oversee a comprehensive ministry to youth in grades 6-12 and their families, that will empower them to live as disciples of Jesus Christ by drawing them into responsible participation in the life of the Catholic Church and fostering their personal and spiritual growth. The position includes evangelization and faith formation for grades 6-10 and their families. There will be a particular emphasis on post-Confirmation youth and youth not currently participating in the life of the Church.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrate and implement evangelization and ministry programs for youth and their families in the two parishes of our collaborative, including sacramental catechesis and formation as outlined in the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults and Children.
Recruit, train, and support volunteer catechists and other adults ministering to youth.
Assist the Director of Evangelization of Children and Youth and Their Families in implementing archdiocesan policies including curriculum guidelines, guidelines for reception of the sacraments, catechetical programs for special groups including persons with disabilities and the deaf, the archdiocesan chastity curriculum, etc.
Assist the Director of Evangelization of Children and Youth and Their Families in implementing archdiocesan safety programs including CORI checks and Protecting God’s Children training and catechesis.
Maintain up-to-date student files, including necessary forms and permissions, contact information, participation records, etc.
Assist the Director of Evangelization of Children and Youth and Their Families with preparing and managing the grades 6-12 portion of the evangelization and youth ministry budget.
Collaborate with parish staff and volunteers to advance and support strong leadership for a comprehensive evangelization of and ministry for (pre-) adolescents that is developmentally appropriate, family friendly, intergenerational, inclusive of both parish communities and the cultures within them, and flexible and adaptable. Special focus should be given to post-Confirmation youth and youth not currently participating in the life of the Catholic Church.
Collaborate with the Director of Evangelization of Children and Youth and Their Families and Coordinator of Evangelization of Children and Their Families to insure a cohesive approach to evangelization and catechesis.
Exercise pastoral sensitivity and maintain appropriate confidentiality.
Maintain professional relationships with other local and archdiocesan faith formation leaders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Practicing Catholic and fidelity to Church teaching.
Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Studies, Philosophy, Education, or the equivalent.
Past participation in Catholic faith formation or youth ministry.
Computer skills including but not limited to word processing, the internet, social media.
Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability in oral and written communication.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Commitment to one’s own personal faith and professional development.
Willingness and ability to coordinate and implement programs at multiple sites.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Familiarity with Scripture and Catechism of the Catholic Church. Familiarity with, or willingness to become familiar with, basic Church documents regarding evangelization and catechesis, i.e., The Catechism of the Catholic Church, Catechesi Tradendae, The General Directory for Catechesis, The Directory for Catechesis, and The National Directory for Catechesis, Christus Vivit, and Renewing the Vision.
