SUMMARY

Your primary responsibility is to partner with product managers and other internal clients, to build, integrate, maintain, and upgrade digital solutions in a seamless and unified manner in support of the vision and mission of the Church to engage humanity with our healing resources.

In support of that, you will manage the centralized team of software developers and website managers that provides resources for all The First Church of Christ, Scientist and Christian Science Publishing Society products and other mission-related activities. You will be part solution architect and part software delivery/development manager. Mother Church membership is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with other department managers to establish project milestones and work to complete projects effectively and within the budget
  • Understand the integration between digital solutions and other enterprise systems (e.g., Fulfillment, e-Commerce, and Middleware) to articulate and offer sustainable and scalable architectural solutions
  • Identify improvement opportunities (e.g., architecture, performance, maintainability, security, scalability, reusability, etc.) and drive solution implementation
  • Maintain open communication with all departments to determine and coordinate expectations throughout a project
  • Support, build and maintain relationships with Product Managers
  • Proactively partner with department managers and product managers to identify and implement appropriate, right-sized, and valuable technology solutions to meet the business need
  • Manage DSS department as they build and maintain digital solutions and digital products
  • Oversee multiple vendors in day-to-day activities
  • Staff development:
    • Support department members' professional growth
    • Recruit, onboard, and train new staff
  • Budgetary responsibilities:
    • Assist with planning and executing department and vendor budgets
    • Support product managers in planning and executing budgets for software development

Regular Contacts

This position has regular contact with OCIO senior management, department line managers, business analysts, external vendors, P&DSG, and a range of IT roles (database administrators, system and network administrators, service desk team, system architects, etc.).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience

Computer Science degree or similar experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills

  • At least ten years of progressive technology experience
  • At least five years of team leadership

Technology Skills

Demonstrated successful track record of design, development, and completion of critical, complex projects

Work Environment

This position regularly works in an office environment.

Christian Science Information

Mother Church membership is preferred.
