As one of the largest providers of social service in Massachusetts, Catholic Charities of Boston offers over 70 programs and services in 23 locations around Eastern Massachusetts.

We are currently seeking a full-time Education and Career Advisor for the El Centro Adult Education program located in Jamaica Plan.

The Education and Career Advisor oversees next steps transitions, coordinates students’ assessment and intake, and provides advising services to students facing barriers in their search of educational opportunities and viable career pathways.

The El Centro Adult Education offers comprehensive, high-quality educational services to advance and accelerate the academic achievement of adult immigrant learners. The program provides six levels of ESOL instruction from beginning to advanced levels of language proficiency, college and career readiness programming, flexible schedule and distance learning options.

 


Qualifications include

  • A Bachelor’s degree in education or related filed.
  • A minimum of 5 years of teaching/advising experience in a similar environment.
  • Good leadership, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and compassionately in a culturally competent manner, with students of a wide variety of backgrounds, skill levels, race and ethnicity with varying level of English language and technology skills.
  • Competent skills using Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Teams and other technology.
  • Ability to partner with other program employees and leadership to assure cohesive and barrier free service delivery within the agency.
