Mary, Queen of Peace Parish in Medford is currently looking for a full-time Facilities Manager/Custodian to join their teamThis is a 40-hour-per-week, year-round employment opportunity. Responsible for the overall general maintenance, repairs and cleaning of the following buildings and grounds:

  • St. Joseph Church
  • St. Francis of Assisi Church
  • St. Joseph Rectory
  • St. Francis of Assisi Rectory
  • St. Joseph Parish Center (shared with School Custodian)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform regular checks and service on various items including, but not limited to boilers, circulator pumps, air compressors and other utilities;
  • Work with vendors to learn how to maintain healthy functioning of all different types of machines, surfaces, and facilities
  • Identify problems, notify Operations Manager when there is a need for major repairs or expenses.
  • Serve as liaison between vendors on-site and Operations Manager
  • Monitor all lights and timers to ensure they are working properly;
  • Lock and unlock building doors and windows, daily; maintaining good working order;
  • Turn on and shut off lights, daily; replace bulbs when needed;
  • Install/uninstall window air conditioners, seasonally/where needed;
  • Change batteries in smoke detectors, seasonally;
  • Inspect and monitor asbestos in the building on a monthly basis. Attend training as required by RCAB Risk Management;
  • Clearing of walkways and steps of snow and debris;
  • Perform basic repairs, including but not limited to masonry, electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry and painting;
  • Complete all necessary cleaning of parish buildings including, but not limited to: vacuuming rugs and floors, cleaning tables and chairs, washing walls/floors, cleaning bathrooms, trash removal
  • Performing the necessary room set-up and take-down for masses, scheduled meetings and parish events as well as preparation for funerals and baptisms.
  • Organize, Re-stock and order all janitorial supplies, when needed
  • Monitor all emergency exits and lights to make sure they are free of clutter and are in working order
  • Know and successfully implement OSHA safety requirements for custodial supplies
  • Assist staff as needed (e.g. moving boxes, distributing supplies, installing bulletin boards, etc.);
  • Assist Pastor and/or Finance and Operations Manager on any additional tasks deemed necessary for the successful operation and maintenance of the Parish.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in email and texting.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and accomplish various tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of various trades, such as plumbing, heating and electrical.
  • General knowledge of procedures used for maintenance on Parish buildings and property.
  • Ability to operate machinery, such as floor polisher and other equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.

PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE:

  • Ability to stand on feet for up to 8 hours/day.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, climb and reach.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
