The Finance and Operations Manager provides financial support for the parish operations. This person is a faithful witness to the mission of the parish, dutiful in all financial matters, communicative with pastor and is totally confidential in all settings and dealings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Our Lady of the Visitation Parish in Milton, MA is currently looking for a part-time Finance and Operations Manager. The Finance and Operations Manager assists the Pastor in fulfilling his responsibility for the administration of the parish and properties of the parish. This manager helps to carry out the goals of the parish's Pastoral Plan. This position is responsible for ensuring proper stewardship of the financial, facility, human, and information resources. This position is 20 hours a week. (3 days/week)
Financial Management

  • In consultation with the Pastor, Finance Council, and Pastoral Plan, develop, implement, and administer Archdiocesan policies and guidelines.
  • Consistent with parish financial reporting requirements, prepare budgets, annual reports, interim reports, general ledgers, allocation summaries and other management reports, offering financial strategies and recommendations to the Pastor and Finance Council, as applicable.
  • Oversee the management of parish operational and financial records and prepare for audits.
  • Manage bookkeeping functions including, but not limited to, payables, receivables, journal entries, payroll, offertory and online giving.
  • Handle bank relations including management of accounts and reconciliations
  • Ensure that all federal, state, and local taxes are paid in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Personnel Management

  • Implement Archdiocesan human resource and personnel policies, including benefit policies, for staff.
  • Facilitate the management of the parish office.
  • Manage the payment of salaries and benefits.
  • Buildings and Grounds Management
  • Work with pastor on major repairs, renovations, and capital projects in accordance with Archdiocesan policies.
  • Act as liaison between the Pastor, the Archdiocesan Property Management Department, and the Risk Management Department
  • Oversee the leasing, rental and use of parish facilities.
  • Act as a liaison to local government agencies

General

  • Attend meetings relative to the role, as necessary, including Parish Finance Council, archdiocesan business managers meetings, etc. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understand and support the mission of the Catholic Church and its effort
  • BA/BS in business, accounting, or related field, with 7+ years related accounting experience or equivalent preferred.
  • 3-5 yrs. supervisory/management experience required.
  • Experience handling confidential, sensitive matters with tact, respect, and discretion required.
  • Demonstrated experience in finance and accounting
  • Demonstrated experience in appropriate computer technology skills; must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS:

  • Ability to use a computer keyboard for up to 8 hours/day.
  • Ability to sit for up to 8 hours/day.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
